IMPROVEMENT IN FARM-GATES.

T0 WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Know all nien that I, HENRY H. BUTLEmot Troy, in the county of Oakland, and State of Michigan, have invented anew and useful Improvement in F arm-Gates; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification.
The nature of this invention consists in so hanging a farm-gate that it will never sag, but always roll easy and true. To do this I construct a. gate of proper materials, with orwithout a centre-bar, suspended by the` top rail upon two rollers journalled in tlie hangers, which are suspended from a horizontal bar, which runs upon a rollsr-journalled upon and between two posts, while its outer end runs between two rollersjournalled between two other posts.
In the drawing hereto attached, the gate A is hung upon two rollersjournalled into the hangersB C, whieh, are suspended from the horizontal sliding bar D. This bar D rolls upon a roller (between the hangers B journalled between the double posts E, whichV are held together at the top by a.cap or anyproper device. vThe outer end of the bar D plays between two other rollers journnlled (one above and the other below the han) betweenV the double posts F, which are held together at the top in the same manner as are the` tops of the posts E.
By this method of eonstructionand hanging my gate, I have it at all times so balanced that it will always work true, andwithont sagging.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-Y 1. The horizontal sliding bar D, when constructed und operating substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of the above with the rollers between the double posts E and F,'the hangersB C with their rollers,- and the gate A, when arranged, constructed, and operating substantially as and for the purposes described.
