SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 774,452, dated November 8, 1904:.
Application filed February 13, 1904- Serial No. 193,40OV2- (N0 model.)
To (all whom, it warty concern.-
Be it known that I, J osnr RATHsoHULnR, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident. of Ried, in the Province of Innkreis, in the Empire of Austria-Hungary, at present residing at the city of Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles, in the State of California, have invented a new or Improved Article of earing-Apparel, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description or specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming part of this specification.
On the annexed drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of the interior of the garment as it appears whenlaid out or held up flatwise. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the same as it appears when suspended or held up ready for being placed upon the wearer, showing the upper part of the garment as partly folded over toward the front, as having the parts constitutingthe covering of the left leg drawn together at the bottom by the tightening-lace and ready for being fastened by the snappers, while the parts constituting the covering for theright leg of the wearer are shown as hanging loose and fastened together at the lower snappers only, from which position the fastening of the parts constituting the covering for the right leg is proceeded with until completed. Fig. 3 is a detail hereinafter referred to.
In the drawings the upper curved part (marked A) constitutes the collar of the garment. From this the interior part B of the garment is suspended, and the cape C, constituting the exterior of the garment, is also suspended. garment at the back or rear is formed in two portions, (marked D and E, respectively, more especially shown at Fig. 3 in section on line a a, Fig. 1,) which lie flat against each other in the position of the parts shown in Fig. 1, and therefore that part marked D alone is seen in this figure, while the other corresponding part, E, is shown in a'different position in Fig. 2, the two parts of the central, rear, and lowerpart of the skirt being shown in the figures of drawings as having the part F, at the center thereof, as provided with a loop C for fastening it to the hook H, as shown at Figs. 1 and 2, and these parts D The central lower part of the.
and E when fastened together with the lower front portions of the garment B B by the two rows of snappers e andf, one at the inner face of each of the lower front portionsB of the garment, and the opposite snappers c and f, respectively, of each such set and at the opposite side of the parts D and E on being united or snapped together constitute the function ing of all the parts of my invention. The rear part of the garment at or about the waist is provided with an elastic band K, and the rear part of the body of the garment is fastened in folds or plaits to this elastic band to allow of its being drawn tight or suspended loose. Two armholes I and J, respectively, are formed for the arms of the wearer to pass through and beneath the cape C, and two palm-straps L and L are placed on the lower corners of the cape C for holding it down by the wearers hands.
Having now described the nature of my said invention and the best system, mode, or manner I am at present acquainted with for carrying the same into practical effect, I desire to observe, in conclusion, that what I consider to be novel and original, and therefore claim as the invention to be secured to me by Letters Patent, is as follows:
The garment or article of wearing-apparel consisting of the combination of the collar, the body part, the cape; the body part having an infolded rear portion consisting of two flat portions of equal size and shape united together by a central seam, folded in the position of the central seam, two rows of one half of snappers, being fastened one row on each side of the seam, the opposite half of each row of Snappers on the front edges or laps of the body of the coat engaging with the rows of half-Snappers on the body, thereby producing the knee-breeches by snapping together the middle, real-and front portions of the body portion of the garment substantially as hereinbefore described.
In testimony whereof-I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
