PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL LEVEEN, OF ANDERSON, INDIANA.
ADVERTISING WASTE-PAPER BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 757,403, dated April 12, 1904.
Application filed January 21, 1904. Serial No. 190,007. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL LEVEEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Anderson, in the county of Madison and State of Indiana, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Advertising Waste-Paper Boxes; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the invention. Fig. 2 is a central vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3, Fig. 2. Fig. 4: is a perspective View of the upper portion of the box with the lids'partly open.
This invention has relation to advertisingboxes, and has for its object the provision of an electrical advertising and waste-paper box of novel and useful character for use in stores, oflices, on street-corners, or in other places.
With this object in View the invention consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the box-frame, which is of skeleton form, comprising the base B, usually mounted on feet Z), the top C, and corner connections D for base'and top of L form in cross-section. Inner corner connections E of similar form or L form in cross-section for base and top are provided, a spaceof about two and one-half'inches being left between connections D and E. Removably fitting between the inner corner connections Eisa box F, designed to be used for waste-paper or other material. Removable slides G have movement in guideways g and abut against the outer corner connections D to form the sides of the skeleton frame A. The space H between the inner box F and the outer box formed by the slides G and corner connections D is utilized for the purpose of receiving electrical illuminating devices, such as incandescent bulbs and their wiring connections or illuminating devices of any suitable kind, the slides G being made of transparent material with advertising matter painted thereon, or of metal with the letters of the space surrounding the inner box to prevent mischievous or accidental interference with the electric illuminating apparatus or withdrawal of the waste-paper box, such lid having a suitable lock, and an upper lid J, closing the opening in the lid I and the top of the waste-paper box.
The box-,frame and the inner waste-paper box are 'madeof any suitable metal. The device will obviously be useful' for advertising either by day or by night.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. An advertising-box comprising the outer box, having removable advertising-slides and tibial inner removable box, substantially as speci- 2'. An advertising-box comprising the outer box having removable advertising-slides, the inner removable box, and illuminating devices located in the space between the inner and outer boxes, substantially as specified.
3. An advertising-box com prising the outer box, having removable advertising-slides, the inner removable box, illuminating devices located in the space between the inner and outer boxes, a skeleton cover for the space between the two boxes, and a cover for the inner box,
substantially as specified.
4. An advertising-box, comprising the skeleton frame having a base, a top, and inner and outer corner connections, a removable box within the inner corner connections, remov able advertising-slides between the inner and outer corner connections, and illuminating devices in the space between the inner box and the outer box formed by the outer corner connections and advertising-slides, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
' SAMUEL LEVEEN.
