Description
@uiten tsts gnent' @Hirn IMPROVEMENT IN 'TOOL FOR GLINGHING NAILS IN HORSE-SHOBING.
@Le Stlgetule trfrrrrt tu in their trttets ateut mit uniting mrt nt tlg Same,
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
' Be it known that I, DAVID W'. BUSH, of Clarence, county of Shelby, und Stuteof Missouri, have'invented new :m11 useful Improvements in Pincers for` Clinclxing the Nails in Horse-Shoeing; und I donhereby declarev that the following is a full and complete description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, ina-king part of this specification.
Inthe accompanying drawings, A A represents the pincers, B represents the lower jaw of the pincers,v :tml C the upper janv. D represent'sernicircular springs on the ends of the arms A. rllhe outerendsz of these springs are furnishedwith stops d, which arc brought into contact in the act of clinohing a. nail, and. by compression :tllows of a.further movement to complete the operation. On the under side. of the lip C is a. hook or tooth, c, which enga-ges the end of'the nail, as hereafter specified. E represents the hoot' of the horse, and F represents the shoe. 4 i 4 After the nails are driven, and the point twisted off close to the hoof by the claw of the hammer, in the usual manner, the pincers are applied for clinching the neil.Y To this'eml the jow B of the pincers is placed on the head of "the nail, below the shoe, and the' tooth c brought into contact with the point of the nail g upon the shoeE, and by compressing the arms A until the stops ol come in contact, the nail is bent down over the hoof, and by a further contraction the nail is Vcompletely clinched. I i
In. using this instrument the jaw B is placed below the shoe, (thc horscs foot standing upon the ground,) and in this position the process of clinching the nails is accomplished. 4
I am aware that cliuching-pincers have been constructed, with the climbing-jaw placed nearly at right angles to the opposite jaw, and furnished with a. series of serrated teeth but this l do not claim.
What I do claim tts my improvement, and desire to secure'by Letters Patent, isf- The combination of the arms A', the jaw B, jaw C, lip e, springs D, and stops d, as and for `the purpose herein set forth. v
l 'DAVID W. BUSH.
