SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 611,241, dated September 27, 1898.

Application filed October 24, 1896. Serial No. 609,953. (No model.)

Be it known that I, J AMES FRANKLIN FEL- LOWS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Troy, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ouffs, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to such improvements; and it consists of the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and subsequently claimed.

Reference may be had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Similar letters refer to similar parts in both figures.

Figure 1 of the drawings is an end view of my improved cuif attached to the wristband of a shirt in position for use. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the inner side of the end, showing the cuff laid out flat with the attaching-tab bent upwardly at an angle to the body part of the cuif.

My invention relates more particularly to that class of detachable culfs known as link-cuffs, and consists of a cuff having an attaching-tab secured to the cuff a short dis tance from one end and onits inner surface.

The object of the invention is to give to both ends of the cuff when in use a similar and poke effect and to increase the effective depth or width of a double or reversible cuff.

A represents the body part of an ordinary detachable double or reversible cuff, having the buttonholes A in each corner to receive the link buttons B B, by which the ends of the end are held together when in use.

The tab 0 is secured to the body part of the cuff by the lines of stitching O. The

tab is provided in its loose or fly end with a pair of buttonholes O adapted to receive the button D on the wristband D of a shirt. The shirt is not shown.

Then one end of the cuff-body is first buttoned onto the shirt-button and the other end of the cuff-body afterward buttoned onto the same button, as commonly practiced, one end of the cuff laps the other just the same as one end of the wristband D is shown lapping the other end in Fig. 1, and the ends would not project outwardly side by side to give the poke effect, as shown in Fig. 1.

By having the tab secured to the inner sur-v face of the cuff and so as not to project beyond the side edges of the cuff the tab when the cuff is in use is wholly concealed from point within the adjacent end edge line of the cuff. This arrangement enables me to bring the ends of the cuff nearer together in use than would be possible if both ends of the cuff were provided with attaching-tabs.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A detachable link-cuff, provided near one end with a buttonhole-tab secured to the inner face thereof at a point slightly remote from one end of the cuff and projecting be: yond the same, with a buttonhole in the projecting end of the tab and having in the opposite end of the cuff-body a corresponding buttonhole, substantially as described.
