Description
P. F. HANLEY.
COMBINED REVERSIBLE COLLAR AND NECKTIE.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 14, 1916- Patented Feb. 20. 1917.
PATRICK F. HANLEY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED REVERSIBLE COLLAR AND NECKTIE.
Application filed September 14, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PATRICK F. HANLnY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Peversible Collars and Neckties, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an article of neckwear and more particularly to a combined reversible collar and necktie, the object of the invention being to provide an article of this kind that can be cheaply made, easily applied and readily reversed.
The invention consists in a combined collar and necktie shown in its preferable embodiment in the dr wing accompanying and forming part hereof, and hereinafter more particularly described and then definitely claimed.
In the aforesaid drawing: 7
Figure 1 is a perspective'view of the re versible collar and necktie made in accordance with my invention;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same ready to be reversed;
Fig. 3 is a. side elevation of the parts making up my device, which are shown separated in order that their shape may be better seen.
Referring now to the details of the drawings by numerals 1 designates the collar which is shown folded ready for use in Fig. 1. and is shown in blank form in Fig. 3. This collar is made of .the proper length and of sufficient size to be folded from the positions shown in Figs. 2 and 3 to the position shown in Fig. 1. It is preferable to provide this central portion with a button hole 2 as indicated at Fig. 3. Then the collar proper is made in the form shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, it has stitched to it a is sec-tion designated by the numeral 3, which is provided with an aperture 4 in registry with the aperture 2 of the collar 1 to form the button hole at the back of the collar. This tie section is also provided with two slits or openings 5 and 6 made very much like button holes, the purpose Gopies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent.

of which will be hereinafter explained. .On the front of the tie section is secured a collar band and tongue section designated 7 8 and 9, the members 8 and 9 consisting of two tongues formed with button holes 10 and 11 by which the combined collar and necktie may be secured to the shirt in a manner readily understood. These tongues 8 and 9 are just the proper width to be inserted when desired through the slits 5 and 6 in the necktie section as illustrated in F ig. 2.
In use, the collar may be folded as it is illustrated in Fig. 1, when the tongues 8 and 9 do not go through the slits 5 and 6, but are free so that they can be secured to the collar button at the front of the shirt, the ends of the tie section being then tied in the usual, or any preferred manner. Then it is desired to reverse the collar, the member 1 is turned upon the opposite side of the collar band section 7 and then it is necessary to slip the tongues 8 and 9 through the slits 5 and 6 to the position shown in Fig. 2, so as to bring the tongues on the opposite sides of the tongue section in order that they may be buttoned to the collar button at the front of the shirt. The tie will then be ready for use, the fresh and clean side exposed to view.
From the foregoing and accompanying drawing it will be seen that I have provided a combined reversible collar and necktie of simple construction, one which is very readily reversed and easily applied.
What I claim as my invention is:
In a combined collar and necktie, the combination of a collar section having projecting tongues arrangedto be buttoned to the front collar button, and a necktie section having slits arranged to permit the tongue on the collar section to project therethrough when the collar'is reversed.
In testimony whereof I affix my s'igna ture in presence of two witnesses.
PATRICK F. HANLEY.
