ABDOMINAL. SUPPORTER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 512,814, dated'January 16, 1894. Application tiled December 17,1892. Serial No. 455,498. (No model.)

Be it known that I, ELLA F. DE LAsHMUTT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Abdominal Supporter, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to abdominal supporters, and my objects are to provide a combination of parts for this purpose which avoids all metal hooks, buttons, dac., insures a good fit with sufficient elasticity to give ease to the wearer, is not expensive, and the material and construction are such that it can be thoroughly washed as often as is necessary, which objects are attained by the garment described hereinafter and fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of an abdominal supporter embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of Fig. l looking in the direction indicatedl by arrow A. Fig. 3 is a portion of the back of the supporter to show elastic bands and the parts to which they are attached.

B is the front portion of the supporter, and C and D broad tapered bands which form the rear or back portions, the parts C and D being connected at the back by means of elastic bands E and F, Fig. 3.

Attached to the lower edge of parts C and D are supporting strips G and H, which are disposed substantially as shown in Figs. l and 2, the ends thereof having attached to them one end of the elastic straps J and K, the other ends of these straps being attached to the downwardlyandrearwardlyprojectingtongue L of the front half of the supporter, these elastic straps serving to hold the supporter strips closely to the rear and under side of the body, as is obvious. v

At M, at the top of the front half of the supporter,is a deep notch whose sides are connected by means of lacing and loops of a special construction, which will form the subject for a separate application for patent, which means is for the purpose ot reducing the diameter of the top edge of the supporter as may be necessary to tit the wearer.

I claim as my invention- An abdominal supporter consisting of a front portion B, and parts C and D connected at the rear ends by elastic bands E and F and forming the rear portion, said front and rear portions adj ustably connected at the sides of the supporter by means of lacing, said ,trontportion having a downwardly projecting tongue L, a pendent portion H attached to part D and a similar pendent portion G attached to part C for the purpose stated, each of said pendent portions having the lower end thereof attached to said tongue L by means of an elastic strap, the several parts described serving as constructed and combined for the purpose stated.
