UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
l CHARLES EDGAR STONE,
or TORONTO, CANADA.
PAPER-FILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 472,561, dated April 12, 1892.
Application filed March 25, 1891.
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LHARLES EDGAR STONE, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Paper-Files, (the same being an improvementon Patent No. 454,502, granted to me June 23, 1891;) and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the file. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, showing the movements and working of the invention.
A A represent two upright curved wires secured in the plate 13 on the floor of the device.
O 0 show two upright wires which are secured in a balance-weight D, located in an oblong chamber E, sunk in the floor of the device under the base or cover F. The said upright wires 0 C, When operating the file, are pressed backward at the top in putting papers in the file, and when the papers are placed on the wires A A the balance-weight D brings back the said wires 0 O to their normal position.
It will be observed that there is a spring H 7 Serial No. 386,377- (110 model.)
in front of and about midway between the wires 0 O', and. is secured on the lock-latch G and to the plate B of the floor of the device, which spring-guide causes the file to close every time papers are passed over the wires. It also acts as a guard against papers pushing off accidentally on the filing of the same. Said spring-guide also, when the file is full, assists the weight D to keep it closed up by pressing against the top of the papers.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- 1. The combination of a paper-file composed of the wires A A and O O, the weight D, to which the wires 0 O are secured, and. the oblong chamber E, located under the base orcover F, in which the weight D is located, and which weight D is pivoted to the lower face of the cover F, and operating as set forth.
2. The combination, in a paper-file, of a guideH, located on a locking-latch G and secured with it to the plate B by a pivot-screw G the whole arranged and combined and operating substantially as set forth.
CHARLES EDGAR STONE.
