COMBINED FL OUNCE AND BELT.

I SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 469,637, dated February 28, 1892.

Be it known that I, ADOLPH NEUVILLE, of the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Flounce and Belt, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.

My invention relates to an improvement in a combined flounce and belt; and it consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.

In the drawings, Figure 1 shows the application of my invention to the body of the wearer. Fig. 2 is a front view, partly broken; and Fig. 3 is a section through the belt and flounce.

Myinvention is a combined flounce and belt adapted to be readily applied to and detached from the body of the wearer without disturbing any other garment, and to be worn with different dresses.

1 indicates the flounce, or rather demiflounce, which is open throughout its entire length in front and composed of lace or other open-Work fabric, and which has a length approximating one-third of that of the dressskirt and is provided with an ornamental lower end.

Secured to the upper edge of the flounce 1 is a belt 3, open also in front and provided with suitable fastening devices, such as hooks and eyes, or, as shown in Fig. 2, with a button 5 and button-hole (3. The belt 3 is provided with elastic gores 8, located opposite each other, which permit said belt to stretch and adapt itself to the movements of the wearer.

As the demi-tlounce is made of open-work fabric, such as lace it will be readily perceived that the color of the underlying garment will be disclosed through its openings, making a very pretty effect.

What I claim is A new and improved ornamental article of dress for ladies wear, consisting of a belt provided with opposite elastic gores and adapted to be applied to and removed from the waist ofthewearerindependentlyofothergarments, means for fastening the belt at the front, and a short flounce of open-work fabric attached to the belt, so as to hang over and encircle the hips of the wearer and being open in front from top to bottom, such open-work fabric being adapted to disclose the color of the underlying garment through its openings, substantially as set forth.
