UNITED STATES MINER NV. BRUCE, OF KNOX CENTER, NEBRASKA.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Application filed November 8, 1888.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MINER WV. BRUCE, of Knox Center, in the county of Knox and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Hose-Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The main object of the invention is to furnish a hose-supporter in which any slack in the elastic band of the supporter caused by the stretching of the same will be automatically taken up by the clasp-carrying cord.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a side illustration of my improved hose-supporier in use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the supporter, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modification to be hereinafter referred to.
The divided band A of the supporter, which encircles or rather partly encircles the leg of the wearer, is preferably made of elastic material, as usual, and is provided at each end with a hook B. The hooks B I prefer to make of the form of the ordinary lacinghooks, in which the overhanging head is united to the fastening-eyelet by a shank or neck I) at one side of the head. The ends of the band A are turned inward and secured to cover the metallic rivet portion of the hooks B, thus preventing any discoloration of the garments on account of rusting. An endless cord Ois passed over the hooks B, to lie be-- neath the overhanging heads thereof and move freely thereunder, and is also passed under another like hook B, secured to the clasp D, which clasps the upper end of the A Patent No. 407,810, dated July 30, 1889.
Serial No. 290,392. (No model.)
hose. The' clasp D, with the exception of its hook B, may be of any approved construction. The cord 0, lying loosely under the lacing-hooks, has a tendency to draw the ends of the band A toward each other, and thus, as the band stretches from continued use, the slack is taken up by the cord, and the band is thus at all times held snugly to the legv of the wearer. The cord C is free to slide in the hooks B, and if at any time the cord should become worn in certain places it can be slid around so as't-o expose the strong portions to the hooks.
Instead of fastening the hook B directly to the clasp D, it may be fastened to a leather loop D, carried by the clasp, as illustrated in Fig. 3.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
'1 The herein-described hose-supporter, consisting of a divided band A, having the hooks B B rigidly attached toits ends, a clasp D, also provided with a hook B at its upper end, and an endless cord C, passing around the hooks B B and adapted to slide freely within the same, substantially as and for the purpose described' 2. The herein described hose -supporter,
consisting of an elastic divided band A, having the hooks B B rigidly attached to its ends, a clasp D, carrying the loop D in its upper end, said loop having a hook B rigidly attached thereto, and the endless cord 0, passing around all the hooks B B and adapted to slide freely within the same, substantially as and for the purpose described.
