BAG-HOLDER OR BILL-FILE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Application filed February 2, 1889.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES SAMUEL JONES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cl1ltOl1fi6ltl,lll the county of Fulton and State of Kentucky, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders or Bill-Files, of which the following a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in bag-holders or bill-files; and it consists in a certain novel construction and combination of devices, fully described hereinafter in connection with the accompanying drawings, and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bag-holder embodying my improve ments. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the manner of applying the bags thereto. Fig. is a similar view of the lower end of the same with the movable disk removed to show the base.

Referring by letter to the drawings, A designates the frame of the holder, having a ring 1; at its upper end to be engaged with asuitable hook or nail on the wall or counter, and C designates a curved guide-rod at the lower end of the said frame, which is provided with the lower and upper parallel legs 0 and (1. The lower leg of this guide-rod is preferably formed integral with the lower end of the frame, and is connected thereto by the coiled base I). The lower leg of the guide-rod is thus arranged perpendicular to and at the center of the said base. The ring B at the upper end of the frame is also preferably formed integral therewith, and an arm E extends forward from the lower side of the ring and perpendicular to the frame, and is provided at its outer or free end with a loop F.

G represents a movable spring-arm, which is connected by an eye g at its upper end to the loop F, and is provided at its lower end with a hook II, which slides on the lower leg of the guide-rod. A spring-coil I is formed at the center of the said arm, and is connected to a loose hook K,which is normally engaged with the frame of the holder, as shown in Fig. 1. of. the drawings, to hold the lower free end of the spring-arm depressed.

eries, as shown at M. These disks may be arranged on the upper leg of the guide-rod; but they are normally arranged on the lower leg, in which position the hooked or free end of the spring-arm will bear thereon and hold them firmly in position.

To apply bags or bills to the in'lprovcd holder, the loose hook is disengaged from the frame, and the disks are movednp on the upper leg of the guide-rod, with the exception of one, which is arranged against the base D. Two bags are now arranged at their corners 011 the said disk on opposite sides of the lower leg of the guide-rod, and then a second disk is moved down and pressed against the outer sides of the bags. Two other bags are now arranged in the same position, and a third disk is arranged against them, and so on un til the entire number of disks is employed, after which the spring-arn'i is arranged in the operative position, as described, and the loose hook engaged with the frame. The bags are not firmly held in position, and may be disengaged from the holder singly by pulling them downward; but the shape of the disks and the pressure which is exerted on them by the spring-arm prevents the accidental displacement of the bags.

The improved holder is formed entirely of wire, in three pieces namely, the frame, the spring-arm, and the loose hook-and, if preferred, the spring-arm may be formed intogral with the outer end of the arm E, thereby still further reducing the number of parts.

Having thus described the invention, I claim 1. In a bag-holder or bill-tile, the combination, with means for supporting the same, of a horizontal guide-rod having an enlarged base at one end, of disks movably mounted on said guide-rod, and a spring normally pressing said disks against said base, as and for the purpose set forth.

2. In a bag-holder or bill-tile, the combination, with a frame comprisinga substantially vertical body A, a U-shaped guide-rod 0, its arms standing at right angles to said body, its lowermost extremity being integrally connected therewith and its uppermost extremity being clamped thereto, of the disks L, movably mountcd upon the lowermost arm of said guidc-rod, and a spring G, connected to the ICO frame and pressing said disks normally against the body A, as and for the purpose set forth.

In a bag-holder or bill-file, the combination, with a frame comprising a substantiallyvertical body A and a U -shaped guide-rod 0, its arms standing at right angles to said body, its lowermost extremity being integrally connected therewith and its uppermost extremity being clamped thereto, of the disks L, movably mounted upon the lowermost arm of said guide-rod, the spring-arm G, pivotally connected at its upper end to said body S and its lower end bearing against the outer of said disks, and the hook K, attached to said springarm intermediately between its ends and adapted to engage the body A, to deflect the arm G and cause it to exert a yielding pressure upon said disks, as and for the purpose set forth.

4. In a bag-holder orbill-file, the combination, with the guide-rod 0, having the integral base D, of the disks L, mounted on said guide-rod and provided with flanged peri p11- eries M,and a spring-arm pressing said disks toward said baseto hold them in contact, as and for the purpose set forth.

5. In a bag-holder or bill-file, the combination of the frame A, provided at its upper end with an eye B and a lateral arm E and at its lower end with a curved guide-rod 0, all said parts being integral, the loose disks L, mounted on said guide-rod, the spring-arm G, pivoted at its upper end to an eye in said lateral arm E and provided at its lower end with a hook H and at its center with a coil 1, and the hook K, pivoted to said coil I and adapted to engage the body of the frame A for causing said hook to bear with yielding pressure against the disks L, as and for the purpose set forth.
