To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MINNIE C. PARRIsI-I, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Monroe, in the county of Adams and State of Indiana, have invented` certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to holders for bags, strainers and the like, and the principal object of the same being to provide a holder that may be readily attached to an edge of a table, shelf, or the like so that the article supported by the holder may be suspended over the table or shelf.

In carrying out the obj ect of the invention generally stated above it will be understood, of course, that the essential features thereof are necessarily susceptible of changes in details and structural arrangements, one preferred and practical embodiment of which is shown in the accompanying drawings, where- 111:-

Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals it will be seen that the improved holder may be formed of a single length of wire that is doubled and twisted to form an upwardly inclined body portion 1 from the lower portion of which the strands diverge at right angles to said body as indicated at 2 and are then abruptly bent downward, as indicated at 2a thence rearwardly to provide the parallel clamping arms 3. The rear end portions of said jaws are bent downwardly as indicated at 4 and are coiled to provide the springs 5 from which the strands are projected forwardly to provide the clamping arms 6 that are parallel with clamp-arms 3 and have their outer ends connected by the end bar 7. From the upper end of the twisted body 1 one strand is projected upwardly to provide a guide loop 8 and then extended downward to provide a brace arm 9 that has its lower end 10 looped around one of the clamping arms 8. The other strand is bent outwardly from the upper end of body 1 and shaped to provide the annular holder 11 that projects at right angles to body 1, said strand being passed through and crimped in loop 8, and then extended downward to provide a brace arm 12 whose lower end is looped about the clamping arm 3 opposite to the one to which brace arm 9 is connected.

A plurality of hooks 12a are attached to holder ll, said hooks having an upper eye 13 that is loosely engaged over said holder so that they may be moved along said holder and also have pivotal movement thereon. A bag 14 has been shown suspended by said hooks.

It will be seen from the foregoing that the improved holder may be readily placed in detachable clamping engagement with a table or the like by means of the described clamping arms, the spring 5 obviously providing the necessary pressure to cause the arms to have a firm engagement.

The device is primarily intended for culinary use and it will therefore be readily undei-stood that the holder 11 is well adapted for use in holding various types of straining vessels as for holding bags.

As thus described, the device may be formed of a single length of wire, and is preferably formed of comparatively heavy wire, but in the event of light wire being used it has been found advisable to employ additional bracing means such as the arms 15 whose upper ends are suitably fastened to opposite outer portions of holder 11, the lower ends thereof being suitably fastened to the divergent portions 2 of the strands adjacent the lower portion of the body 1.

Vhat I claim as my invention is 1. A device of the character described comprising a reinforced body portion, upper and lower yieldably clamping arms at the lower end of said body, a holder projecting from the upper end of said body, and bracing means connecting said holder with the upper clamping arms.

2. A bag holder formed of a single length of resilient material shaped to provide a body, a holder at one end of said body, means at the other end for engaging a support, and a brace that connects said holder and said support engaging means.

3. A device of the character described comprising a twisted body, spaced-apart spring-pressed clamping armsV at the lower end of said body, an outwardly projecting annular holder at the upper end of said body, and brace arms connecting said holder to one set of said clamping arms.

4. A device of the character described formed of a single length of wire bent upon comprising a body, upper and lower resilient clamping arms at the base thereof, an an-v nular holder projecting at right angles from the upper end of said body, brace arms connecting the rear of said holder with the upper clamping arms, and auxiliary brace arms connecting forward portions of said holder with the base of said body.
