To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, LEVI J. TANQUARY, a

States, residing at Walnut, in the county of Crawford and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Bag- Holder, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to an improvement in bag-holders, and has for its object to provide a simple, inexpensive, and efficient construction of supporting-frame, by means of which a bag of any size or description may be supported and the mouththereof held open for facilitating the filling of said bag.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the course of the subjoined description.

The invention consists in a supportingframe composed entirely of wire and provided with an oppositely-disposed pair of coils formed in the vertical side arms of said frame and arranged in horizontal alignment, combined with an intermediate horizontal bar having its ends projecting through said coil and having its terminals pointed and projected in front of said frame, and a bail or wire frame having its terminals looped to pivotally engage the lower connecting-bar of the frame, the upper end of said bail being adapted to receive the upper edge of the bag to be supported for holding the mouth thereof open.

The invention also consists in certain novel features and details of construction, as hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the drawings,and fiuallypointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of an improved bag-holder constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a bag applied thereto.

Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in both the figures of the drawings.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, the main supporting-frame of the device is constructed from awire blank, bent or coiled at its central portion to form an eye 1, by

' means of which the device when completed projection of a wall or other vertical support. After forming the eye 1, the terminals of the blank are extended in opposite directions to form the upper bar 2 of rectangular supporting-frame, after which they are bent downwardly and extended in substantially parallel relation to form the vertical side bars 3, which at their lower end are bentto form eyes or loops 4, the purpose of which will appear. At a point intermediate their length the vertical Side bars 3 are given each one complete turn to form an eye or coil 5. These coils or eyes are horizontally aligned and are adapted to receive a horizontally-disposed bar 6, which passes through and connects said eyes, the extremities of said bar 6 being bent rearwardly and passed around the side bars 3 aud'projected forward to a point in advance of the vertical plane of the bar 6 and of the side bars 3, where they are bent upwardly and 7c pointed, as indicated at 7. s

In operation the bag indicated at 12 is im- 8 paled at its rear edge upon the upturned points 7, hereinabove described, after which the pivotal bailframe is rocked upwardly to receive the forward edge of the bag, which is passed over the same and held in place thereon by any suitable fastening device. By means of the construction described, it will be seen that the device is adapted to bags of different sizes and shapes by means of the particular construction and arrangement of 5 the pivotal bail-frame, which may swing outward to any required extent from the main supporting-frame, and which, by its weight and the weight of the bag hanging pendent therefrom, will hold the mouth of said bag I00 open in a position adapting the same to be v easily filled.

Having thus described the invention,what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-

1. A bag holder comprising a rectangular supporting frame made from wire and having .the vertical parallel side arms thereof formed each with a coil intermediate of its ends, a horizontal bar passing through and supported within said coil and having its opposite ends passed around the side arms of the supportin g frame and projected to a point in advance of the plane of the supporting frame where they are upturned and pointed, and a pivotal frame connected to said main frame and adapted to receive and support the outer edge of a bag, substantially in the manner specified.

2. In abag holder, amain supporting frame composed of wire and formed with a pair of vertically extending parallel side arms provided at their lower extremities with eyes or loops, eyes or coils formed in said side arms at or near their upper endand disposed in horizontal alignment and adapted to receive a horizontal cross bar, the terminals of which are coiled around the side bars of the main frame and extended forwardly where they are upturned and pointed to engage the rear edge of a bag, a lower connecting bar engaging the eyes or loops in the lower ends ofthe side bars of the main frame, and a bail frame also composed of wire and having the eittremities of its side bars looped around and'pivotally engaged with said lower bar, the swinging end of said bail frame being adapted to receive the outer edge of the bag and. to hold the mouth thereof open, substantially in the manner specified.
