ful Improvements in Bag-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to bag holders, and
the invention consists in a. device adapted to hold a bag open for filling as well as serving lto grip and support the bag while it is being filled, all substantially as shown and described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan View of the holder, and 4Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof as in Fig. l and having the band and engaging wire bro-ken away from side to side. Fig. 3 isa sideelevation of the holder showing aI bag engaged therein, and Fig. 4 is ay crosssection corresponding to line 4 4, Fig. `l, except the back wall.
As thus shown the complete device is comprised in three leading parts consist-ing of a bracket B, which preferably is cast in t-he desired shape and has a base or back portion 2 and two forwardly projected arms orportions 3 of a suitable length to engage the other parts therewith. The bracket B has open slots. 4 or their equivalent to engage the said bracket upon the wall W by spikes,
pins or the like, and the said arms are bored or have holes laterally through the same and substantially rect-angular recesses in their front and to portions ada ted to afford support for t e two parts and D respectively. The said part or bail D, socalled, is o-f a band shape in cross section andbent to an elongated form laterally in its body whileits ends 5' are bent back at substantially right angles and lie iat against the outside of the said arms or projections 3 and are perforated at their extremities through the base of arms 43. Otherwise the ends 5 of said bail are connected by a rod or wire E Iait their angle and said rod is adapted to rest down on the lextremities ofsaid arms. Thebag fastening loop C likewise has its extremities outside said arms 3 and outside the ends 5 -of the bail and also pivoted o n the thereon, thatI is,
outer ends of cross or pivot rod R. Said loop may have any preferred cross sectional shape so that it will lit rather closely all around on or over the outside of bail D about the edge thereof `and engage a bag between said bail and loop or fastening member C. The said loop is of a. springy metal and adapted to exert a binding effect on the bail when the bag is engaged thereby, and the said bail is preferably iiat on both sides but may have any other preferred shape which will enable the member or loop C to spring over t-he same land grip the bag against the outside thereof. 'I depend upon a friction grip rather than hooks or the like for holding the bag. No
possible injury can be inflicted upon the bag by this means and yet the bag is efectually and easily engaged and disengaged, as is obvious. .The said bail and loop C are adapted to be turned up against the wall when not used, where they also are out of the way.
Usually in placing the bracket B in using position it is put at such elevation that the bottom of the bag will rest on the floor while the mouth thereof is grip ed and distended in the holder, so that in act the weight o-f the contents will rest upon the floor for the most part and not be carried by the holder. It should be noted -that the practice is to enter the bag, G, from the inside and turn the edge or mouth thereof outward and downward over the bail and then bring the loop C down over the outside of bag and bail. `This makes a very firm engagement.
