To allwhom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMEs W. GREGORY, a British subject, residing at Marilla, in the county of Erie, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to holders, and more particularly to bag-holder's, and has for its object to provide a device of this kind which will be adjustable to suit different bags and which may be manufactured at a low figure.

Other objects and advantages willbe apparent from the following description, and it is to be understood that I do not desireto be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described, for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. In the drawings forming a portion of this specification, and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a view showing the bag-holder with a bag engaged therein. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the holder with the bag detached. Fig. 3 is a detail section showing the arrangement of one of the string-receiving pins. Fig. 4 is a sectional view showing the connection of the twomembers.

Referring now to the drawings, the present invention comprises two members 5-and 6, each consisting of a bar having its forward end curved to extend at right angles, as shown at 7, and having its rearward end bent abruptly downwardly at right angles to the bar and to the plane of the portion 7, as shown at 8. The two members 5 and 6 have their forward portions 7 overlapped, and each portion is provided with a longitudinal series of perforations 9. The extremity of the portions 7 of the member 6 has a rearwardlyturned rounded finger 10 formed integral therewith, while thefportions 7 of the member 5 have aforwardly-turnedfinger 1 1 of similar formation, and each of these fingers is engaged'in one of the perforations 9 of the other member as adapted for interchangeable engagement in the several perforations, so that the members 5 and 6 may be moved toward and away from each other. A bar 12 is provided for each member and has its upper end portion turned at right angles, as shown at 18, and disposed against the under surface of its member 5 or 6, the bar 12 lying in spaced relation and forwardly of the downwardly' turned portions 8 of the members, and a pair of longitudinally-spaced

14 and 15 are engaged and frictionally held in each of the members and in the portions 13 of their respective bars 12, these

14 and 15 extending above the upper surface of the members 5 and 6, adjacent to the rearward ends thereof, with the pins 14 forwardly of the pins 15.

In use a bag has its free edge portion engaged over'the members 5 and 6, with the rearward portion engaged over the pins 14, and the strings of the bag may be engaged with the pins 15, so that they may be easily reached when wanted. It is to be understood that the portions 8 and the bars 12 are engaged at opposite sides of a suitable support, and a bolt 16 may be engaged in an alining pair of the perforations 9 to prevent separation of the members. It will be observed that the main portions of the members 5 and 6 lie in parallel relation and that they may be adjusted toward and away from each other.

What is claimed is- 1. A bag-holder comprising parallel members having their forward portions turned inwardly and overlapped, said overlapped portions being connected for longitudinal adjustment with respect to each other, the rearward ends of said members being turned downwardly at right angles, bars disposed in parallel spaced relation to the downwardly turned portions of the members and having upper end portions resting againstthe under surface of the members, and a pair of longitudinally-spaced pins engaged in each member and in the upper portion of each bar, to hold the bars of the members, said pins extending above the members, as shown.

2. A bag-holder comprising two members disposed in parallel relation and having their rearward'ends turned downwardly, bars located forwardly of the downwardly-turned portions and in parallel spaced relation thereto ,upwardly-extending longitudinally-spaced pins engaged in the members and in the bars, to hold the bars in position, said members having their forward end portions turned inwardl y and overlapped and provided with longitudinal series of perforations, the outer extremities of the overlapped portions being In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
