ORRIN E. BLOOD, OF EAST LAS VEGAS, NEW MEXICO.
BAG-HOLDER.
Application filed April 17, 1913. Serial No. 761,790.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 11, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORRIN E. 131.001), a citizen of the United States, residing at East Las Vegas, in the county of San Miguel, State of New Mexico, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following tobe a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in bag holders, and has particular reference to a device for holding mail bags, laundry bags or the like. i
The principal object is to provide a simple.
device of this character on which bags which have draw strings can be quickly and easily applied and eifectively held thereon.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of my bag holder. Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing the bagin posi-* tion thereon.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 represents a'hoop on which the mouth of the bag is adapted to be held, this hoop being made of any s'uitable material, but preferably of stout wire. Suitably mounted on a support is a V-shaped member 11, one arm 12 of which extends upwardly and outwardly from the support and is secured to the hoop as indicated at 13. The lower portion of the V-shaped member is bent to form an eye 14 which receives a fastening screw 15. The arm 16 of the member 11 extends vertically on the support and has an eye 17 formed near itsupper end which receives also a fastening device 18. The portion of the arm 16' above the eye 17 is formed into an outwardly curved hook-shaped member 19, the inner end of which is secured to the hoop 10.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, I
There are two of these members 11 formed identical with the eye members just described, the other one being similarly mounted on the support and attached to the hoop 10 at a suitable distance from the first V- shaped member to properly hold the hoop in an outwardly extending position. It will benoted that the portion of the hoop ad- ]acent the support is suitably spaced from the support by the hooks 19 so.that the bag 20 can be engagedbetween the hoop and support.
Inthe operation of the device, the mouth of the bag is drawn u through the hoop, and then the edge 0 the mouth turned down around the hoop, whereupon the drawstring 21 is pulled tight and tied so that the hoop is confined within the pocket formed by the mouth of the bag. The bag is then held in suspended position, and articles thrown thereinto as desired.
The device as illustrated in the accompanying drawings is particularly adapted for laundry bags or other light bags, but when the device is used in postoffices for holding the mail bags, I form the parts of heavy wire, and-place the bracing arms 12 from above the hook.
What is claimed is:
- A bag holder formed of a single piece 'of wire, comprising a hoop, V-shaped supporting brackets each including an arm secured to a suitable support, said arm having an outwardly curved hook portion on the up-' per end which is secured to the said hoop, the other arm of the bracket extending upwardly and outwardly from the support and being secured to the hoop, the hoop being spaced from the support by the hooks. In testimony whereof, I affix my signa ture, in the presence of, two witnesses.
ORRIN BLOOD.
