JOHN MARCOLLO, OF VICKSBURG, MISSISSIPPI.
MOSQUITO-N ET SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATIGN forming part of Letters Patent No. 245,734, dated August 16, 1881.
Application olea May 14, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN MARcoLLo, of the city ot' Vicksburg, in the county of Warren and State of Mississippi, have invented certain Improvements in Mosquito-Net Supporters, ot which the following is a specification; and I do hereby declare that in the same is contained a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention relates to the combination, with a cornice projecting from the head-piece of a bedstead, of a bar adapted to be slid on rods longitudinally of the same, to which the upper front edge ofthe mosquito-net is secured, the sides of the upper part of the net being attached to the said rods by means of rings or loops, which admit, in connection with the said bar, of the extension of the upper part of the said net when the same is to be used, and
A its withdrawal toward the head-piece of the bedstead when the net is not required.
In the further description of my said invention ,which follows reference is made to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof, and in which- Figure I is a side elevation of a bedstead provided with my improvements. Fig. IIis a plan of the same. Figs. III and 1V are views of parts of the invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate similar parts in all the views.
A is the bedstead, and B a cornice, secured rigidly to the head-piece a of the same in any suitable manner. The upper part of the cornice consists of a rectangular frame, and within it are secured two rods, b b. The said rods are pivoted at one end thereof to the inside of the cornice, and at the other end turned down 4o so as to form hooks, which rest, when the said rods are in place, in eyes c projecting from the inside of the cornice, as shown. A bar, C, having a ring at either end thereof', is supported by the rods b, and may be slid longitudinally of the said rods, as will be readily understood.
The mosquito-net, which is shown in the drawings in dotted lines and represented by D, is attached at its upper -front edge to the bar C by means ot' rings orrloops, and at its rear upper edge to the cornice by means of tacks or other suit-able devices. rIhe upper side edges of the net also have rings or loops, which are placed over the rods b. A cord with a tassel at the end thereof is used to slide the bar C in the extension and contraction of the upper part of the net.
When the net is not in use the position of the bar C is near the rear end of the cornice, and the net is gathered into a mass, thelower part of which may be thrown over the headpiece, so as not to interfere with the adjustment of the bed-clothes and pillows.
I claim as my invention- In combination with the head-piece a of the bedstead, the overhanging cornice B, secured rigidly thereto, the rods b, pivoted at one end to the inner surface of the cornice, and at the'other end hooked into eyes o, and the bar C, supported at either end by therods b, and adapted to be slid longitudinally thereof, substantially as and for the purpose specilied.
