  • the invention relates to a stick-shaped displaceable delivery case for pasteous substances, e.g. glue-sticks and deodorant-sticks, comprising a tubular sleeve and stick-holder displaceable therein, the sleeve being displaceable in a cup-shaped base, the open end of the base surrounding the sleeve commencing at the bottom thereof, whereas the holder is supported by a support member extending through the bottom of the sleeve.
  • Sticks of this type normally have a protective cap which can be placed over the free end of the stick when not in use.
  • a known case of' the above mentioned type has a sleeve surrounding the substance with clearance, the sleeve being adapted to be pushed into the cup-shaped base over a smaller or larger distance so as to uncover a smaller or larger portion of the substance constituting a self-supporting stick.
  • pasteous substances are liable to desiccate with the result that the stick becomes less fit for use and may even become quite useless.
  • the said known stick also has this risk, because both the outer end surface of the pasteous stick and a large part of its side surfaces are open to the air.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a delivery case where the risk of desiccation is substantially diminished, and by means of which it is possible to apply a substance even though it may be rather soft in a more accurate way than is possible by means of the known case.
  • the said object is achieved by the fact that the sleeve constitutes the container for the pasteous substance and at its open end is provided with a radially extending circumferential application flange.
  • the sleeve is completely filled with pasteous substance right up to the side walls thereof, the side wall of the sleeve thus being displaceable relative to the substance only by overcoming a resulting friction from the substance.
  • the open end of the sleeve is placed on a surface to be treated and pressure is applied to the holder inorder to apply the substance onto the said surface, and the sleeve is glidingly advanced over the surface, the sleeve will be pushed into the base concurrently with the application of the substance.
  • the pasteous substance is tightly surrounded by the sleeve to its free end surface.
  • the sleeve at its open end i.e.
  • the substance will be applied in a uniform and thus an accurate way because during the application theflange will always be held onto the surface to be treated and will uniformly distribute the substance leaving the against the surface to be' pasteous substance and supports the substance right up to the outer end surface thereof, the stick may as a matter of fact be made rather slender.
  • the flange may be provided with a number of radially extending channel-shaped ducts which along their entire length are open right to the outer surface of the flange.
  • the cross section of the ducts decreases in the outward direction.
  • the ducts may be located both at the short and at the long sides of the cross section so that improved distribution will be obtained in the various positions of advance in which the case is held during the application.
  • the flange of the sleeve may be rounded outwards so as to improve the gliding movement over the surface to be treated.
  • FIG. 1 is longitudinal section through an embodiment of the case according to the invention, filled with a pasteous substance
  • FIG. 2 is a top view of the tubular sleeve of the case after removal of the protective cap
  • FIG. 3 is a modified embodiment of the tubular sleeve of the case
  • FIG. 4 is a top view of the sleeve according to FIG. 3, and
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the delivery case according to the invention after removal of some of its parts.
  • FIGS. 1-4 consists of a circular cylindric sleeve, consisting of a tubular wall 2 and an open bottom formed of an annular flange 3 surrounding an aperture 4.
  • a cup-shaped holder 5 is axially displaceable in the sleeve 1 and consists of a side wall 6 and a closed bottom 7.
  • the sleeve '1 is axially displaceable in a cup-shaped base 8 consisting of a circular cylindric side wall 9 and v a closed bottom 10. As shown the base 8 surrounds the sleeve 1, the open end of the base commencing atthe bottom end of the sleeve 1.
  • a supporting member 1 1 supports the holder 5 internally on the base 8.
  • the support member 11 extends through the bottom aperture 4 of the sleeve 1 and in the shown embodiment it is formed of two parts, one part 12 extending downwards from the bottom of the holder 5, and the other part 13 extending upwardly from the bottom 10 of the base 8.
  • the said parts interengage.
  • the engagement is established by providing part 12 with an axial downwardly open bore 14, whereas part 13 is pin-shaped and has a slightly conical cross section so that it can be introduced into the bore 14 into locking engagement.
  • the case furthermore comprises a protective cap 15 having a side wall 16 and a top wall 17.
  • the cap surrounds the base 8, the open end of the cap commencing at the free end of the base 8.
  • the cap 15 is held in place on the base 8 by its free end abutting against an external shoulder 18 of the base 5.
  • the sleeve 1 and the holder 5 are filled with a pasteous substance which can be of a consistency so as to form a formstable stick held in the holder 5 by means of a securing flange 20 provided on the internal side of the wall 6 of the holder 5.
  • the pasteous substance may also be so soft that it can only keep its stickshape by means of the holder and the sleeve 1.
  • the sleeve 1 is at its top provided with a radially extending circumferential flange 21 which may be rounded outwards as shown in FIG. 1.
  • the flange is provided with radially extending channelshaped ducts 22 which along their entire length are open right to the outer surface of the flange.
  • the ducts shown in FIG. 2 have a cross section decreasing in the outward direction.
  • the delivery case according to the invention is operated by removing the protective cap 15, placing the free end of the sleeve 1 on a surface to be treated and by applying pressure to the base 8 at the same time advancing the stick over the said surface.
  • the holder 5 will then transmit the pressure to the substance 19 which during the application will also enter into the ducts 22 of the sleeve 1.
  • the sleeve 1 will automatically be pushed into the base 9 which to this end has a suitable length.
  • all parts of the case have a circular cylindric cross section, but the invention is not restricted to the said sectional shape.
  • the mutually displaceable parts are formed so as to provide a suitable sliding fit.
  • FIG. 5 also consists of a sleeve 1, a holder 5 axially displaceable in the sleeve, a cupshaped base 8 in which the sleeve 1 is axially displaceable and a two-part support member 12,13, of which one part extends from the holder 5 through the bottom of the sleeve 1 and the other part abuts against the bottom of the base 8.
  • the chamber defined by the sleeve 1 and the bottom 7 of the holder 5 is filled with pasteous substance.
  • the stick is also provided with a protective cap 15.
  • FIG. 5 shows a sleeve 1 having an oval cross section, and the holder 5 as well as the base 8 have a similar form, the parts together constituting a tight-fitting telescopic system.
  • FIG. 5 also shows a sleeve 1 which at its open end is provided with a radially extending circumferential flange 21 rounded in the outward direction and provided with a number of radially extending channel-shaped ducts 22 which along their entire length are open right to the outer surface of the flange.
  • the channels 22 are located both at the short sides of the oval (not shown) and at the long sides thereof.
  • a stick-shaped displaceable delivery case for pasteous substances comprising a tubular sleeve (1) having an open upper end, and a stick-holder (5) displaceable therein, the sleeve (1) being axially displaceable in a cupshaped base (8), the open end of the base surrounding the sleeve (1) commencing at the bottom end thereof, the holder (5) being supported by means of a support member (11) extending through the sleeve (1) at the lower end thereof, said support member being of two interengaging parts, one part extending downwardly from said holder and the other part extending upwardly from said cup-shaped base, characterized in that the sleeve (1) constitutes a container for the pasteous substance and at its open end is provided with a radially extending circumferential applicating flange (21), said stick holder serving to discharge the pasteous substance from the open end of said sleeve as said sleeve is telescoped
