PASTE-DISPENSERS Filed Dec. 11, 1957 \\\\l. \1 to United States Patent PASTE-DISPENSERS Cornelis Jacobus Jagtenberg, Biel, Switzerland, assgnor to Irene Chassemont S.A., Bienne, Switzerland Filed Dec. 11, 1957, Ser. No. 702,180
Claims priority, application Switzerland Dec. 21, 1956 1 Claim. (Cl. 15132.7)
The present invention relates to paste-dispensers, and more particularly to dispensers for lip-rouge paste.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a paste-dispenser which is simple and reliable in operation, the contents of which can be dispensed practically without a remainder, and can not escape unintentionally.
With this and other objects in view I provide a pastedispenser comprising in combination: a cartridge-shaped member formed with a cylindrical bore serving as a paste storage container, an insert tip xed into the head of said cartridge-shaped member, a ball retained freely rotatably at the end of said tip, a supply duct leading through said tip from said paste storage container to said ball, a plunger fitted into the rear end of said cartridge-shaped member, and a Isleeve or handle member fixed to the rear end 4of said plunger, `said cartridgeshaped member being telescoped with its rear end into the front end of Said sleeve.
These and other features and objects of my said invention will be clearly understood from the following description of a preferred embodiment thereof given by way of example with reference to the accompanying sectional drawing:
A cartridge-shaped or tubular reservoir member 1 is formed with a cylindrical bore 2 of large diameter extending from one end of member 1 and adapted to be lled with lip-rouge paste. An insert 3 is screwed into the other end of member 1. Insert 3 is formed with a bore 5 of small diameter meeting the bore 2 and defining at the other end of member 1 a discharge opening in which a ball 4 is mounted freely rotatable.
From the other end a combined plunger and handle member proiects having a plunger 6 adapted lfor sliding movement in the `cylindrical bore 2 of the cartridgeshaped member 1. On the bottom portion 8 of the plunger 6 which is provided with a screw thread 7, a sleeve or handle member 9 is `screwed on, the forward edge 10 of which is turned in and engages the outer surface of the cartridge-shaped member 1. Member 1 is formed at the one end thereof with a ilange collar or stop means 11 which is engaged by the edge 10 in the retracted position of the combined plunger and handle member.
When for the use of this paste dispenser the sleeve 9 is pushed forward relative to the cartridge-shaped member 1, the plunger 6 penetrates deeper into the bore or paste chamber 2, and drives the paste through the bore S to the ball 4, so that the paste is distributed uniformly during rolling of ball 4 on a surface.
The paste chamber 2 can be emptied completely, and paste emerges at the ball then only, when pressure is applied to the sleeve 9. It is impossible for the paste to escape elsewhere since the diameter of the plunger 6 is substantially equal to the diameter of bore 2.
While I have described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawing what may be considered a typical and particularly useful embodiment of my said invention, I wish it to be understood that I do not limit myself to the particular details and dimensions described and illustrated, for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A paste dispenser comprising, in combination, an elon- -gated reservoir member being formed with a stepped cylindrical bore therethrough adapted to be at least partly lled with at least semi-liquid substance, said bore having a large diameter portion extending from one end of said reservoir member through the major portion of the length thereof and a short small diameter portion meeting the large diameter portion and extending to the `other end of said reservoir member and deiining at said other end a discharge opening, said reservoir member being formed with integral stop means projecting laterally outwardly from said one end thereof; an applicator ball member retained freely rotatable in said discharge opening and presenting an outward applicator face; and a combined plunger and handle member consisting of a plunger rod having over the major portion of the length thereof a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the large diameter portion of said stepped cylindrical bore and extending through said one end of said reservoir member into said bore so as to be slidably received so that the portion of said rod extending into `said bore is guided over the whole length therein, said rod having a length greater than the length of the large diameter portion of said bore and having an outer end of larger diameter formed with a screw thread and a sleeve member screwed to the outer end of said plunger rod and concentrically surrounding the latter, the inner end of :said sleeve member being formed with an inturned integral flange portion surrounding the reservoir member and adapted to engage said stop means thereon when the plunger rod is in a retracted end position in which a substantial portion of said rod extends in said bore to be guided therein, whereby inward thrust mparted to `said combined plunger and handle member relative to said reservoir member with said ball member applied against a receiving face will supply said substance from the region of said 4small diameter bore portion to said outward applicator face of said ball member and thereby to said receiving face incident to rotation of the ball member and cessation of said axial thrust upon said combined plunger and handle member will automatically relieve pressure upon the substance in said small diameter portion. l
