SLIDE-LOOP FOR SUSPENDERS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 375,240, dated December 20, 1887.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, CHESTER WILLIAMS, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Slide-Loop for Suspenders, of which the following is a full, clear, exact, and concise description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, making part hereof.

My invention relates to the device by means of which the button-hole ends of suspenders are connected with the shoulder-straps, and through which such ends render with the least possible friction and without the aid of puleys. y

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side view of my slide-loop A, the button-hole end a, wire loop b, and shoulderstrap a of a pair of suspenders. Fig. 2 represents a front view of the slide-loop A, button-hole end a, wire loop b, and shoulder-strap c. Fig. 3 represents a transverse section of the slide-loop A, connecting wire loop b,and shoulder-strap 0.

The slide-loop A (represented in Figs. 1, 2, and 3) is in the form of a plate bent back upon itself in such a way that the lower part forms a loop or passage, B, for the button-hole end a, and that the two ends of the plate are brought together and clasp the wire loop I) at 6, connecting the slide-loop A with the shoulderstrap 0. The lower part of the slide loop or passage B has its two sides, d d, perpendicular and parallel with their lower edges, slightly curved outward and its bottom curved like the broad rim of a pulley, and being slightly wider at its ends than in its center, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. The slight curving of the lower edges of the part B is in order to prevent all unnecessary wearing or cutting of the button-hole ends.

The slide-loop A is made of brass or of any other rigid material.

It will be seen that with my invention either a flat or round, braided, or woven buttonhole end may be used with the least possible friction, and that my invention allows the button-hole ends to render freely without material wear, and to accommodate themselves to the varying strain upon them caused by the Varying positions of the wearer s body.

My invention may be used on either the front or back ends of the shoulder-straps, and will be found especially desirable in nonelastic suspenders and in the use of flat woven button-hole ends.

What I claim as my invention is-- The rigid slide-loop A for suspenders with its two sides d d perpendicular and parallel, whose lower edges are slightly curved ontward, and its bottomfcurved in the shape of a broad rim of a pulley whose ends are slightly wider than its center, substantially as before set forth.
