.To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LEON T. J. LUBIN, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoulder-Braces, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in of two plates or shoulder-blade pieces, preferably triangular in shape, arranged side by side and connected together at one of their edges by an elastic or non-elastic or other suitable material, or a lacingcord, either` elastic or non-elastic, and each having a shoulder strap or loop, of webbing or other suitable material, secured to it, and to'which shoulder strap or loop is secured a depending strap, of webbing or other suitable' material, and each 2o of said plates or shoulder-blade pieces having attached thereto a depending strap,of webbing, Src., to the free ends of which depending straps can be secured in any suitable 'manner any article of clothing of the person, all substantially as hereinafter fully described, reference being had to the accompanyingsheet of drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents, in back view, a shoulder-brace constructedin accordance with this invention 5 and Fig. 2 a detail section, in modication. y

In the drawings, A and B represent two triangular plates or pieces, preferably madeof cloth and in any suitable manner, as at C, and each having at and along its edge a a strip or piece of leather, D, one on each side of the cloth piece C, and all secured together by stitches b, and having at or near or along its edge a series of eyelet-holes, E, through which runs a lacing-cord, F, and properly secured and preferably elastic, by which the two parts A B are secured together, as shown, and by which they can be easily and conveniently adjusted, as to their nearness to or distance from each other, by tightening or loosening the cord for the better fit of the shoulder-brace to the person and to increase or decrease the backward pull upon the persons shoulders.

The parts A B are preferably made of the 5o shape shown, and each to conform to or substantiall y to the shape of the scapula or shoulshoulderbraces; and it consists, substantially, l v

Each one, however, canbe cut out in its middle portion, or each canbe y-made of strips secured together to leave an open space in the middle for the saine purpose.

Each shoulder-blade piece A B has a loop 6o d, to its shoulder-blade piece by stitches at f v and each of these. shoulder straps or loops G has a depending strap, H, secured to it by stitches, and each shoulder-blade piece also has a depending strap, J. The shoulder-loop straps and the several depending straps H J are preferably made of the usual webbing, andpreferablyelastic, and they can be secured to their respective supports in any suit- 7o able manner, or the straps H can be secured to their respective shoulder-loop straps by loops g, as shown in cross-section in detail, Fig. 2, so that each can slide or move along the shoulder-loop strap for its betteradjustment. under the armpit and its connection to the clothing to be secured thereto, or it can be connected by buckle or in any suitable manner. When in use, each arm of the person is placed through its respective loop G, so that each plate or shoulder-blade piece A Bwill come against its respective shoulderblade ofv the person.V y

If desired, when worn by av gentleman, the straps H can be connected to a buckle on the usual straps or suspender-ends at the front of the pants, and the straps J by buckles to the usual straps or suspender-ends at the back of the pants, or in any suitable manner but when worn by ladies the straps H J can be connected to buckles secured to a waist-belt, &c., or by loops to slide back and forth thereon, to which belt the clothing can be secured in any suitable manner, or the straps can be secured directly to the skirt-bandsin any suitable man- 95 ner. i

The two shoulder-blade pieces A B can be secured together byelastic straps, one at the top and the other at the bottom, secured thereto in any'suitable manner, in lieu of by lacingcords, and the shoulder straps or loops G and othervstraps H J can be secured in other ways than as shown; also, if desired, the several depending straps can be lengthened and be adapted in the usual ways to be secured directly to the article of clothing, in lieu of by independent straps or belts.

Thetwo shoulder-blade pieces can be made of other shapes than triangular, as shown; also, they can be made of any suitable material and in any suitable manner.

The strap .I can be secured to its shoulderblade piece at any point desired.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is l. Ashoulder-brace consisting of two parts or shoulder-blade pieces, A B, connected by a yielding or elastic fastening, and each having a depending strap, J, and a loop or shoulder nesses.
