UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD H. HAR or NEW YORK, N. Y.
SUPP ORTlNG-BANDAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 349,798,6ated September 28,1886.
Application filed January 20, 1886. Serial No. ltSJJRP. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, EDWARD H. HART, of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented an Improved Supporting-Bandage, of which the following is a clear and exact description, reference being had to the accompauying drawings.
Figure 1 is a side view of my improved supporting-bandage; Fig. 2. a longitudinal section of the bandage. Fig. 3 is a detailed side View of the bag thereof. Fig. 4. is an end or face view of the same.
This invention relates to a supporting-bandage of the class described in Letters Patent No. 265,672 of October 10-, 1882.
It consists in providing the bandage with a separate ring which is elastically connected to the bandage and to which the bag may be buttoned; also in the use of an elastic frilling for the support of the testicles, and in the use of another elastic frilling, all as hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings, A is the belt or bandage proper. B is a ring of elastic or flexible fabrie, which is, by preferably elastic threads a a, connected with the bandage A. These threads pass through eyes f f, that are secured to the bandage. The ring B has buttons 1) b or analogous holders for securing to it the open end of the bag 0. The bag G has button-holes d d to receive the buttons.
Behind the ring B are secured to the bandage A the ends of an elastic band or frilling, D, which is to support the testicles. Another similar elastic band, E, extends under the penis behind the ring B. This band E carries two of the eyes, f f through which the elastic threads (1, that hold the lower part of the ring B, pass to the bandage.
The ring B, combined with the detachable bag 0, permits the latter to be easily cleaned,
and serves, moreover, when used without the bag, as a useful support in many cases. The semi-annular frilling D serves to support the parts mentioned without unduly inclosing them, and the band E serves to sustain the penis in position in the ring B.
I claim 1. The bandage A, combined, by the elastic threads a a, with the open ring B, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. The'bandage A, connected with the ring B, having fasteners b, and combined with the detach able bag 0, substan t iall y as herei 11 sh own and described.
3. The bandage A, combined with the elastic threads (6 a, open ring B, fasteners b, and
, detachable bag O,snbstantially as herein shown and described.
4. The bandage A, provided with thelower semi-annular elastic frilling, D, substantially as and for'the purpose herein shown and described.
5. The bandage A, p"ovided with the elastic frilling D, and with the elastic frilling E, as specified.
(i. The bandage A, combined with the elastic threads a a, open ring B, and elastic frillings D and E, substantially as herein shown and described.
