SLEEVE AND GLOVE PROTECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 338.790, dated March 30, 1886.
Application filed December 23, 1885. Serial No. 186,520. (No model.)
To all whom it Vmay concern.'
Beit known that I, MARTHA W. SLAoK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sandwich, in the county of De Kalb and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeve and Glove Protectors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
The present invention has for its object to provide a sleeve-protector with an extension to cover both the hand and thumb thereof, so that when wearing gloves the extension to the protector can be slipped over the same and shield them from the weather; and it consists in the details of construction, substantially as shown in the drawing, and hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, which represents an inner side View of myinvention, A designates the sleeve-protector,of water-proof u or other suitable material, provided around its upper end with an elastic band, a; or other preferred means may be used for securing the protector to or around the arm to hold it in place thereon.
The protector may be of any desirable length and breadth, and terminates in a hand-extension, B, having secured thereto a thumb-piece, C, and immediately above it, where itV joins the hand-extension, is an elastic band, b, so as to draw the extension part of the protector around the wrist after the hand is shoved through.
The hand portion or extension B of the protector A is open at its end,and around its edge is elastic c, to draw the extension over and around the fingers of the hand and close the opening in the extension, and at the same time make it convenient to thrust the hand through when found necessary to use it.
Especially is the device useful when going out in stormy weather in full dress, as the gloved hands are as well protected as the sleeves of the dress, thereby preventing them from becoming soiled or injured.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A sleeve-protector provided with a handeXtension having an opening, and an elastic around the opening to draw it closed, and a thumb-piece secured to the extension, and an elastic to draw said extension around the wrist, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
