UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT ASA PAOKER MEADE, OF SAYRE, PENNSYLVANIA.
COAT-SLEEVE PROTECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 489,567, dated January 10, 1893.
Application filed June 3,1892. Serial No. 435,461. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ROBERT ASA PAGKER MEADE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sayre, Bradford county, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Coat-Sleeve Attachment, of which the following is aspecification.
The objects of my invention are to protect the wrist and arm of the wearer against rain and snow and to keep the wrist warm in cold weather. I attain these objects by the means hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an enlarged view of my device, the flap within the sleeve being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a reduced view of my device, showing the attachment in connection with the sleeve. Fig. 3 is a sectional view through the line X-X of Fig. 2 enlarged.
Like letters of reference indicate the same parts throughout the several views.
My coat sleeve attachment is constructed of an outer flap G which terminates at the wrist in an elastic band A, and an inner flap B attached to the outer flap C at a convenient distance in the rear of the band A. The outer flap O is provided with openings 6 e e e e, located above the point of attachment of the inner and outer flaps. The inner flap B is attached to the inner side of the coat sleeve D by hooks and eyes or in any suitable manner. The flap 0 is drawn over the outside of the coat sleeve D and is attached thereto by buttons or in any suitable manner. The openings 9 e e e e in the outer flap C, serve to permit the escape of water which may accumulate beneath the outer flap. It is plain that the band A will tightly clasp the wrist serving to retain heat and exclude rain or snow, the described attachment forming a continuous covering for the wrist and closing the usual opening of the coat sleeve at the wrist.
Having thus described my invention I claim,
As a new article of manufacture a coat sleeve protector consisting of an inner and an outer flap one of said flaps terminating in an elastic band to clasp the wrist the two flaps being attached to each other in the rear of the elastic band and the outer flap having openings located above the point of attachment of the inner and outer flaps, substantially as and for the purposes described.
ROBERT ASA PAOKER MEADE.
