TAG HOLDER.
Patented Mar. l1, 1884.
- iNVENTOR:
ATTORNEYS.
, UNITED STATES EDW'ARD H. TANNEHILL, OF MALVERN J UNGTION, ARKANSAS.
TAG-HOLDER.
' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Application filed October 19, 1888.
To (ZZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD H. TANNEHILL, of Malvern Junction, in the county of Hot Spring and State of Arkansas, have invented a new and Improved Tag-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide'a new and improved tag-holder, by means of which the attaching and detaching of tags to and from bundles, &o., is greatly facilitated.
The invention consists in a frame adapted to receive a tag, and provided with a snaphook for securing, it to bundles, packages, &c.
The invention also consists in parts and details, as will be fully set forth and described hereinafter.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding partscin all the figures.
Figure l is a perspective View of my improved tag-holder. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the same. Fig. 4 is a cross-sec tional elevation of the same.
A frame, A, is provided at one end with a hook, B, made integral with the same, which hook has a shoulder, a, formed in its inner surface at the free end. The free end of a spring-strip, G, fastened to the end of the frame, rests in a recess formed by the shoulder. The inner surfaces of the sides and of the end of the hook of the frame are provided with a Patent No. 294,931, dated March 11, 1884.
(Model) longitudinal groove, D. The inner edge of the cross-piece A, at the end next to the hook, is beveled or rounded on the front side, and recesses or diagonal grooves I) are formed in the side pieces of the frame at the ends of the end piece, A. A tag, E, is slipped into the frame, through grooves Z2, from the'end next the hook, so that the edges of the tag pass into the grooves D, whereby the tag will be held securely in the frame- The beveled end piece, A, and the notches or grooves b permit passing the tag into the frame very readily.
By means of the snap-hook B 0, formed on the tag-holder, it can readily be fastened on cords, wires, loops, &c., of packages and bundles. The shoulder a and the spring 0 prevent the cord from passing out of the hook accidentally.
one end, and a portion, A, recessed at b, as shown and described.

I am aware that it is not new to make a tag snap-spring, an internal groove, D, closed at
