METHOD OF ATTACHING SUSPENDER-STRAPS TO PANTALOONS.
Specication of Letters Patent No. 2,237, dated September 4;, 1841.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, DAVID B. Cook, of the city and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Suspender- Strap to be Attached to Pantaloons, thereby Causingr the Pantaloons to Set Easy and Gracefully; and I do declare that the following is a full and exact description.
The nature of my invention consists in attaching to the Waist or waistband ont the pantaloons a strap to be made of broadcloth, india rubber, webbing, or any other material the pantaloo-ns may be made of, (of the form and make as shown in the drawings hereto annexed marked A) of about eight inches in width, where it is attached to the pantaloons, two inches Jfrom the front of the waistband of the pantaloons to the back of the hip scams and gradually tapering` oil' to about one inch in width where it meets and is attached to the suspender buckle attached to the strap. beingl in length about six inches causing` the pantaloons to set easy and gracefully and doing away with the necessity of or :tor suspender louttons.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction, operation and application. I make a strap of the drawing, herewith inclosed marked A made of the same material and color of the pantaloons. At the part of the drawings marked B the suspender buckle is attached to the strap. At the part marked IQ the strap is attached to the pantaloons Within about one inch of the front o the pantaloons. At the part marked D and E the strap is attached to the pantaloons along the waistband or top of the pantaloons. At the part marked F it is attached to the pantaloons where it meets the hip seam to eX- tend to the foot and extends about one inch back of the hip seam.
What I claim as my invention and desire t-o secure by Letters Patent is- Combining` the suspender with the waist or waistband of the pantaloons by means of the strap attached to the pantaloons as herein set forth.
