Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
4 HENRY SMITH, OF DUNKIRK, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN TABLE-WAIT ERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 214,529, dated April 2'2, 1879; application filed December 7, 1878.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY SMITH, of Dunkirk, in the county of Hardin and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Table-Waiters, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a waiter'for carrying dishes, glasses, and victuals. Heretofore such waiters have been in one piece and without handle or the convenience of feet whereon to rest, therefore objectionable on account of the carrying and depositing on side table.
The object of my invention is to provide a safe, easy, and convenient waiter for the purposes above mentioned.
The invention consists in the upper and lower arrangement, for safety, case, and convenience, of sideboards and feet, and finally consists of the particular construction and arrangement of the mechanism.
In the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts, Figure 1 is a perspective of the face of my invention. Fig. 2 is the under side or bottom of the same, showing the operation of side sections, feet, handle, &c.
In plain bottom A, being the underneath portion of the waiter, designed for dishes, are
mounted four feet, Gr, suited to stand waiter on, so as to allow servant to remove arm and hand from beneath without danger of sliding off the contents; E, handle. SectionsfB are attached to bottom A by hinges H. Buttons F are constructed so as to hold firmly sections 13 to their place while using waiter, and by means of turning same the sections B can be folded. D represents rim of waiter. I represents ring for hanging waiter in pantry. Fig. 2, A, inside of waiter; D, rim. B shows side sections divided into wards by divisions J. These apertures are for holding glasses, small dishes, &c.
What 1 claim is The table-waiter composed of the body A, handle E,-feet G, and folding sections B, said sections being subdivided and the divisions secured by a rim, D, the whole constructed substantially as shown and described.
