FRANK P. O'NEILL, OF DELL, GREGON.
FRYING-PAN AND FOLDING THEREFOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 24, 1907.
Application filed April 15, 1907. Serial No. 368.276.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK P. QNEILL,
citizen of the United States, residing at Dell,- in the county of Malheur and State of Oreon, have invented certain new and useful mprovements in FryingrPans and Folding Handles Therefor, of which the following. is
a s ecification.
his invention contemplates certain new and useful ImPIOVGmGHtSJD. culinary utensils and-relates (particularly to saucepans or frying-pans an handles thereof, and the invention has for its object an improvedconstruction of utensil of this character which is provided with a handle arranged to fold over the .top of the an andbe held on thetop, so as tobe out oft e way and permit the utensil to be stored away inasmaller' The .invention consists in certain. con- ,str'uctionsand' arran ements-of the parts folded'position.
Corresponding and like parts are referred which I shall hereina ter fully describeand 0 arm. Y i
For afull understandin of the invention and the merits thereof'an also to acquire a knowledge of the details of 'constz-uction of .the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to thefollowing description and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved frying-pan with its foldedhandle; ig. 2 is a. vertical sectionalcview thereof; and, Fig. 3 is a description and indicated the drawings by the same reference characters.
to in the following inallthe views 0 Referring to the drawings, the numeral Ii 3 so iasto hold the handle in its folded position.
In order to hold the handle in a ri id and plan view of the handle in.
the herein-described saucepan and handle extended relation to the pan, the h'andle is rovided with a spring hook 6 adjacent its 'nged end, and the said hook is adapted to extend across the hinge into locking enga ement with a loop or bar 7 secured to t e saucepan. In order to hold the handle 2 in extended position, it is only necessary to swing it fromover the pan until the free end ofthe hook fisnaps into the loop 7.
From the foregoing description in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that I have provided a very simple,
durable and efficient construction of saucepan and folding handle therefor, in which the handle may be easily swung outwardly and held in an extended relation to the pan or be disengaged from its keeper or loop 7 and be swun over thetop of the pan and held when folde by-ineans of the spring catch 5.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. As an improved article of manufacture, a saucepan, a handle havin a bin ed connection with the saucepan, t e han e being provided with a spring hook at its hinged end, the'said hook being ada ted to extend across the hinge with the ban e in extended position, and the saucepan being provided,
with a loop underneath the hinge andv with which the said hook is desi ned for en ageinent, whereby to hold the andle rigl y in extended position," relative to the saucepan.-
. r 2. As an improved article of manufacture,
therefor, the handle having'a hinged;c0nnec- "tion with the saucepan and adapted to fold over the same and be extended from the rim of the saucepan, the saucepan being provided at onemde-of the hinge with a loop, and the handle beingprovided on the opposite side of the hinge withra spring hook adapted to extend across the hingeand be snapped into the loop.
In testimony whereof myfsignature Frrznuen L. Looxnr'r; Gno. McLAUcnLm.
