Description
W. HASSALL.
GLOVE-FASTENING. BIO-176,224. Patented. Apri118, 1876.
MPETERS, FKOTO-U HOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D O.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WLIQIJIAM HASSALL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN GLOVE-FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l76fl24, dated April 18, 1876; application filed March 21, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, 'WILLIAM HASSALL, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Glove-Fastening, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 represents my improved fastening as applied to a glove, and Fig. 2 represents the same detached.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre sponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved fastening for gloves, which shall be simple in construction, can be easily applied, can be readily fastened and unfastened, and will confine the glove snugly around the wrist.
The invention consists of an improved glovefastener formed of the two plates, hinged to each other at their lower ends, slotted longitudinally, and having a ring or link passed through the said slots, as hereinafter fully described.
A are two narrow plates, made of a length equal to or a little greater than the length of the slit in the glove. The plates A are hinged to each other at their lower ends, and have holes formed in their ends and outer side edges to receive the rivets or threads by which they are secured to the glove. The plates A are slotted longitudinally, and in the said slots is placed a ring or link, B. In the inner bars of the plates A, at the upper ends of the slots, are formed shallow recesses, to receive and serve as seats for the ring B, to prevent it from slipping down.
By this construction, when the ring B is slipped down into the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the plates A may be spread apart, and the glove put on and taken off with as much facility as though the fastener was not attached to it.
When the glove has been put on, the upper ends of the plates A are drawn together by the thumb and first finger of the other hand, and the ring slipped up with the second finger, so that the glove can be fastened very easily and quickly.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An improved glove-fastener, formed of the two plates A, hinged to each other at their lower ends, slotted longitudinally, and having a ring or link, B, operating in the said slots, substantially as herein shown and described.
WILLIAM HASSALL. Witnesses:
' JAMES T. GRAHAM,
T. B. MOSHEB.
