IM PROVEMENT lN GLOVE-FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 206,883, dated August 13, 1878; application filed January 9, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, A. Braces KITTSON, of J ohnstown, in the county of Fulton and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inFastenings for Gloves and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawwhich form a part of this specification.-
Similar letters indicate similar parts in the My invention relates to fastening devices for gloves; and consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, as hereinafter shown and described.
Certain fastening devices have heretofore been used for various purposes, which have a flaring knob or button and a converging recess to receive and hold it; but my improvements consist in the peculiar construction of the fastening device, as hereinafter stated and shown.
In the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 represents my improved fastening attached to a glove. Fig. 2 represents the two parts forming the fastening detached. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the stem and recess in plate. Fig. 4. shows a modification in the construction of my device, the tongue being formed hollow or curveshaped.
In my construction the fastening is made in two parts, designated, respectively, A and B in the drawing, the part A consisting of a plate formed with a tongue or stem, or, project ing laterally therefrom, as seen in the drawin g. The stem to enlarges gradually in width from the plate A toward its outward extremity, is made somewhat thicker than the plate, and has its edges beveled. The part B is also a plate, formed with a recess, 1), along its central part, conforming to the tongue or stem a on the plate A, so that when the plates A and B are brought together the stem to may be laid in the recess b in the plate B, when, by a slight movement of the parts A and B in opposite directions, the fastening is effected and the parts locked together.
The plates A and B are each secured to the glove near the wrist by means of a small plate placed against the inner side of the glove and riveted to the outer plate.
When it is desired to unfasten the device the plates A and B are brought together, moving the tongue at slightly back, when it may be lifted from the recess b, and the unfastening is readily effected.
I am aware of the Patent No. 149,473, issued to one Halsey, April 7 1874, and do not claim the device shown in such patent.
Having described my invention, I claim- In a glove-fastenin g, the plate A, adapted to be fastened to a glove, and provided with a flaring or wedge-shaped stem, a, with beveled edges, in combination with plate B, having a groove or recess, b, conforming to the stem a, substantially as and for the purposes described.
