K. OSBORNE HOLDER OR GRIP FOR HOLDING PINS, BOXES, on THE LIKE v Filed Nov. 3. 1923 INVENTOR.
KATE OSBORNE,
v By her Attorneys Patented Sept. 2, 1924.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
KATE OSBORNE, 0F BRIDGWATER, ENGLAND.
HOLDER OR GRIP FOR HOLDING TINS, BOXES, OR TI-IE LIKE.
Application filed Ncvemb er To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KATE OSBORNE, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 20, Cornhill, Bridgwater, in the county of Somerset, England, have invented-new and useful Improvements in Holders or Grips for Holding Tins, Boxes, or the like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to holders for tins, boxes or the like, such as are used as containers for polishes for boots or metal, and for its object to provide means whereby the tins or boxes can be opened and closed without the necessity of touching them.
According to this invention a holder for a tin consists of a base having a cover hinged thereto, and recesses in the base and cover adapted to receive the base and cover of the tin. The base of the tin is held in position by a screw passing through the base of the holder, and the cover of the tin is removed by means of wire or wires, whereby the tin can be deformed, causing the cover to fly off. In the recess in the cover of the holder is a plate pressed outwards by a spring, both secured to the cover by a screw.
The accompanying drawin shows a holder made in accordance with this invention.
Figure 1 is a plan of a holder opened, and Figure 2 is a section of the base of the holder, showing the tin in position. Figure 3 is a section of the holder closed after the cover of the tin has been removed. Figure 4 shows the wires secured to the base of the holder made in one piece.
The holder consists of a base a and cover 5 connected together by a hinge c and in the base a is a recess d and in the cover 5 is a recess 6. On the base a is a hook f and on the cover 5 is pin 9 by which the holder may be held closed.
The base 71 of the tin is held in the recess d by a screw and wires 76 are secured to the base a by screws Z. When the wires in are gripped, they cause the tin to be deformed and the cover an to fly 05. In the recess 6 of the cover I) is a plate n pressed out- 3, 1923. Serial No. 672,584.
wards by a spring 0, the plate and spring being both secured in the recess by a screw .1.
p, the plate a forming a closure for the tin. The wires is may be made in one piece, as shown in Figure 4.
I claim 1. A holder comprising a base, a recess in the base adapted to hold the base of the tin, a cover, a recess in the cover, means for securing the base of the tin in the recess, and a wire on the base adapted to engage the tin.
2. A holder comprising a base, a recess in the base adapted to hold the base of the tin, a cover, a recess in the cover, a screw for se curing the base of the tin in the recess and a wire 011 the base adapted to engage the tin.
3. A holder comprising a base, a recess in the base adapted to hold the base of the tin, a cover, a recess in the cover, means for securing the base of the tin in the recess, a wire on the base adapted to engage the tin, and a spring actuated plate in the recess in the cover.
l. A holder comprising a base, a recess in the base adapted to hold the base of the tn, a cover, a recess in the cover, a screw for securing the base of the tin in the recess, a wire on the base adapted to engage the tin, and a spring actuated plate in the recess in the cover.
5. A holder comprising a base, recess in the base, a cover, a recess in the cover, a hinge secured to the base and the cover, means for securing the base of the tin in the recess in the base, and a wire on the base adapted to engage the tin.
6. A holder comprising a base, recess in the base, a cover, recess in the cover, a hinge secured to the base and the cover, means for securing the base of the tin in the recess in he base, a wire on the base adapted to engage the tin, and a spring actuated plate in the recess in the cover.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing invention I have signed my name this 18th day of October, 1923.
KATE OSBORNE.
