Description

C. B. KIRKPATRICK ADVERTISING DEVICE Dec. 11, 1923. 1,476,984
Filed Dec. 16. 1922 FIQZ Wn-NEssEs 547 Y 5% away Patented Dec. 11, 1923.
UNITED STATES CLIFFORD BURCH KIRKPATRICK, OF WICIIITA FALLS, TEXAS,
ADVERTISING DEVICE.
Application filed December 16, 1922. Serial No. 607,435.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that T, CLIFFORD BURCH :KIRKPATRICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wichita Falls, in the county of \Vichita and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Advertising Device, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an advertisin device, comprising a memorandum pad ho Lder which may be constructed of cardboard or metal, having a pencil holder arranged thereon and being designed with a clamp that will permit the same to be attached to most any object, such as an instrument r board on an automobile or the clamp may be arranged to attach the same to a telephone, or the clamp may be omitted from the device, thus providing a pad holder to set on a desk or other flat surface.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which is very simple and practical and can be manufactured and sold at a very nominal cost.
The nature and advantages of the device will be better understood when the follow ing detailed description is read in connection. with the accompanying drawings. The invention residing in the construction, com.- bination and arrangement of parts as claimed. 1
In the drawing forming a part of this application the various parts will be re ferred to by numbers. And, whereas,
Figure 1 is a side view showing the gen eral assembly.
Figure 2 is a front plan view.
Figure 3 is a view sectioned at the line A to A.
The device forming the subject matter of this invention comprises one piece of metal of suitable dimensions, stamped and bent as desired, to form the device as illustrated. 1 is the base. 2 and 3 are clamping jaws. i is a machine screw. 5 is a wing nut, thread ed on said machine screw 4: for the purpose of operating the clamping jaws 2 and 3. 6 is the pad holder. 7 and 8 are clamps forming a part of the springs 9 and 10 for the purpose of holding the memorandum pad in place. The little clips 11 are for the purpose of holding advertising matter to the pad holder 6. A. piece of celluloid may be placed over the advertising matter to prevent the same from. becoming soiled, and
the celluloid arranged under the clips 11, so as to be removedwhen desired. 12 is a pencil holder, comprising two flanges at right angles with the pad holder 6, having holes of suitable size for a pencil arranged therein. 18 is a brace riveted to the base 1 and extending therefrom to the pad holder 6.
It will thus be noted that the entire device is constructed with only four parts, it being observed that the base 1, the clamping jaws 2 and 3, the pad holder 6 and the brace 13 are one continuous piece of metal. It will also be noted that the springs, clamps, flanges and clips which are arranged thereon form a part thereof which renders it possible to manufacture this device at a very nominal cost.
While it is believed from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the device will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself towhat is herein shown and described and that such changes may be resorted to, when desired, as fall within the scope of what is herein claimed.
What I claim is:
1. An advertising device of the character described, comprising a flat piece of metal formed into a substantially triangular shape, a clamp on one apex thereof, a pair of apertured side flanges on one side of said triangle near the top thereof, a pair of spring clamping members on one side of said triangle, a plurality of stationary clamping members above said spring clamping mem bers.
2. An advertising device of the character described, comprising a piece of flat metal formed into a substantially triangular shape, the two ends formed into a clamp on one apex of said triangle, a pair of side flanges of substantially triangular shape formed on each side of one side of said triangle near the top, apertures therein, spring clamping members on each side of one side of said triangle forming a Part of said flat piece of metal, clip clamping members above said. spring clamping members forming a part of said flat piece of metal, as shown and described.
. CLIFFORD BURCH KIRKPATRICK.
