IMPROVEMENT IN S'HIRTBOSOM SUPPORTS.
Specifieat'on forming part of Letters Patent o. 139,797, dated June 10, 1873; application filed April 26, 1873.
To all Iwhom it may concern:
Beit known that 1, lsEAEL L. LANDIs, of Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shirt-y Bosom Expanders; a-nd do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof', reference' being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the skeleton wire-frame for expanding the bosoms of shirts,
In the annexed drawings, A represents a wire bent in oval shape, having its two ends joined, and which form the outline of the frame. B C C represent wires also, which are bent in oval shape, and which have loops D D and e formed at their ends. The ovals G O are placed across the wire Ain the direction of its shortest'diameter, and are secured upon it at a suitable distance apart, as is represented. The oval B is secured to the wire A in the direction of its longest diameter.
These ovals, when' secured together, make a light but firm and elastic expander. One of the loops e is buttoned iu the collar-buttonof the shirt, and the other to a button near the waist. The loops D D fasten upon buttons at the sides of the bosom.
It will be seen that this expander is connected to the bosom at six different points, and in such manner that it is kept expanded and free from contact with the body of the person Wearing it.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The oval A, in combination with the ovals C C and B, which latter are provided with loops, the several parts being constructed as and for the purpose set forth.
