To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT E; C. CLOTH- mR, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Swarthmore, in the county of Delaware and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reversible Cuffs, of which the.,following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in reversible cuffs and the object of my inventioh is'to furnish a detachable cuff of soft material that can when soiled be conveniently reversed so as to expose a perfectly clean part.

Myinvention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form part of this specification, in which similar numerals. of

reference indicate similar parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1, is a side elevation of the lower end of a shirt sleeve to which cufi' is attached:

slot in the cuff at base of tab 17 through which the tab,'which is employed to secure the cuff to the wristband, can be passed when the cuff is reversed.

In applying the cuff to the wristband the latter is flattened out as shown in Fig. 2 and the wristband 20 is placed between the cuff proper and the band 15, the tab 17 being drawn first through the central hole 19 in the wristband 20 and then through the hole 16 in the cuff band 15. The outer part 22 of the cuff is now folded back so as to cover the cuff band 15 in which position the holes 12 in the outer part 22 of the cuff are in register with the holes 13 in the cuff band, with the holes let in the inner part of the cuff, and with the holes 21 formed in the wristband of the sleeve. A cuff button nay now be passed through these sets of holes, first to one side of the cuff and wristband, and then through the other, in order to secure opposite sides of the cuff in the usual manner.

If the cuff becomes soiled it is removed band vand the hole 16 in the cuff band, and

the cuff is folded over the cuff band when the cuff buttons or links are passed through the holes 13-1421 as before described.

Referring to Figs. 3 and l, itwill be observed that the ends of the cuff adj arent to the ends of the cuff band 15 are undercut as indicated at 23. The purpose of this is to make this end of the cuff a trifle shorter than the other, or outside, end so that when the latter is folded over finally it will eon'ipletely cover this out under part in order to make a sightly finish.

It will be evident that the cuff comprises an outer member and an inner member, whichever way it be turned, whether with the'surface shown in Fig. 3 be turned 1") that the two parts face each other, or with inside out in the same sense that a stocking is so turned, when the cufi 1S reversed. 2. As an article of manufacture, a detach able cufl' for shirt sleeves comprising a cult portion foldable to present different sur faces outwardly, in combination with a connecting band joining those ends of the cuff which extend parallel to the length of the Wearers arm and adapted to be turned inside out to present dillerent surfaces toward the cuff, extending. circuniferentially of. the wrist of the wearer in either position and a fastener adapted to he turned toward and engage the shirt sleeve in either of the reversed positions of the cuff.

3. As an article of'inanutacture, a detachable c'ufi for shirt sleeves comprising an outer cart adapted to be reversed by folding in the direction of the length of, the wearers arm, a cuff band connected with those ends of said outerpart which extend parallel to the length of the wearers arm, and adapted to be turned inside out, extending ciroumferentially of the wrist of the wearer in either position and a tab carried by one of said parts adapted to be passed through a hole in the other part and through the wrist band of a shirt for securing the cuff to the wrist band;

As an article of manufacture, a detachable cuff for shirt sleeves comprising an outer reversible part and a band connected with those edges of the reversible part which extend parallel to the length of the wearers arm and turned wrong side out with reversal of the outer part, extending circuint'erentially of the wrist of the wearer in either position in combination with a re tainer for engaging the shirt sleeve.

5. As a new article of manufacture, a detachable end for shirt sleeves, comprising an outer part adapted tov be folded longitudinally, a cuff band of less Width than the outer part, the ends oi which are secured to the inner sides of the end, said band and cuifb ing adapted to be reverses the inside of "the band then presenting a 'difierent face to the cuflf, so as to cover a soiled and expose an unsoiled portion of said cult, and means carried by said end for securing said cufi' and cuff band to the central part of the wristband of the sleeve. As a new article of manufacture, a detachable cuff for shirt sleeves, comprising an outer part adapted to be folded longitudinally, a cufi band of less width than the outer part the ends of said band being sewed to inner ends of said outer part, said outer part and said cufi' hand being adapted to be reversed, or turned inside out, and a tab carried by said outer part, adapted to be passed through holes or slits in said outer part, out? hand and the wristband of a shirt for securing said cufi' to said wristband.

7. As a new article of inamifacture a detachable cufl' for shirt sleeves, comprising an outer part adapted to he folded longitudinally, a cult band of less width than said outer part secured at its ends to the inner ends of said outer part,'said outer part and cull band being adapted to be reversed or turned inside out, and oeing furnished at opposite ends with button holes to receive a fastening, and a tab carried midway between the ends of said outer part of said cuff adapted to secure said call to the central part of a wristband.

8. its a new article of manufacture, a detachable cufi' for shirt sleeves comprising an outer part adapted to be "folded longitudinally and an inner part of less length than the outer part, a cull band of less width than the outer part the ends of which are sewed to the ends of the inner part, said band and cufi' being adapted to be reversed, or turned inside out, so as to cover a soiled and expose an unsoiled portion of said cufl', a slot in said inner part, a tab sewed to said inner part and adapt-ed to be passed through said slot, said outer and inner parts of said eufi' and said end band being furnished with holes for the passage of a cud fastening or link and said end band being fi :nished with a slot for the passage of said tab.
