' This invention relates to improvements in buttons, and it is the principal object of my invention to provide a button which can be employed to button a .coat or the like without 5 the necessity of sewing the button thereto, thus allowing the use of a button on other coats also. Another object of my invention is the provision of a button made in two parts and equipped with suitable means for firmly uniting both parts with the button in its coat buttoning position.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a button of any conventional material including two end discs adapted to j be connected and held in position to engage the overlapping parts of a coat on the inside and outside thereof to unite both parts.
A still further object of my invention is the provision of a button made of a plurality of parts adapted to be firmly connected to form a single button which however, is comparatively simple and inexpensive to make, yet durable and efficient in its practical use. These and other objects and advantages of my invention will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be specifically defined in the appended claims. As illustrated in Figures 1 to 3, the button according to my invention made of any suitable conventional material consists of two discs 10 and 11, one provided with an inner centrally located projection 12 and the other with a similar projection 12, one for the reception of a connecting sleeve 13, preferably made of elastic material, having at one 2 end a bead 14 formed therewith and adapted to engage with its beaded end over the projection 12of disc 10, while its other enden gages projection 12 of disc 11 and is held in ;5.

I j 1 i As illustrated in Figures 4 to 6, the discs 20, 21, also have inner centrally located ex- 7 tending projections 22, 23, provided with beads 24, 25, formed therewith intermediate the ends of the projections, and a sleeve 26, preferably of elastic material, having at one end a bead 27 is adapted to engage with its other end projection 23 of disc21, while an elastic ring 28 will hold this end of sleeve 26 firmly engaged with projection 23 behind bead 25. In practice the bead 27 of elastic sleeve 26 Wlll engage projection 22 in rear of head 24:, so that'sleeve and projection of disc 20 are firmly engaged, if now the sleeve is passed from the inside of one part of the coat through the buttonhole therein and through the button hole in the other part. of the coat to the outside thereof the projection 23 is firmly pressed against the sleeve to firmly engage the material thereof with bead 25 so that ring 28 on the inside of disc 21 will firmly hold the sleeve end on projection 23 behind the bead 25 thereof, so that both button parts are firmly united to form a single button.
It will be understood that I have described 95 the preferred forms of my button only and that I may make such changes therein ascome Within the shope of the appended claims without departure from my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A button comprising two discs, an inner projection on each disc, an elastic sleeve, a bead at one endthereof, said sleeve adapted to engage with its beaded end one of said projections, and with its other end the other of said projections, and means for 'firmly holding the parts of the button in their engaged position.
2. A button comprising two discs, an inner projection on each disc, an elastic sleeve, a
bead at one end thereof, said sleeve adapted to engage with its beaded end one of said projections, and with its other end the other of said projections, and an elastic ring for holding the non-beaded end of said sleeve on its projection to form a button.
3. A button comprising two discs, inner central projections on said discs, beads on each projection, a rubber sleeve having a bead at one end adapted to engage therewith the projection of one of said discs behind the bead thereof, the opposite end of said sleeve adapted to be drawn over the bead of the projection ofthe other disc, and an elastic ring for holding this end of the sleeve to its projection.
