Be it known that l, RALPH A. Ti-Iourson, a citizen of the United States, residing at Garland, in the county of lNarren and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe or finlzle Ornaments, of which the followii'ig` is a specification.

rlhis invention relates to a meansfor holding an ornament and removably attaching the same to a shoe7 and an object of the invention resides in providing a device of this character wherein a cruciform member is adapted to provide an attachment member for connectionwith a shoe, at the free end thereof, and to receive a holding` member formed of a ring folded on a diameter to receive an ornament and to hold the same therein7 the ring being,` attached to the central portion of said attachment member.

The nature and advantages of the in-vention will be better understood when t-he following` detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying ch-awings7 the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.

In the drawings forming part of this applicat-ion, lilre numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is a plan view of an ornament, shown as being` detachably securedto a shoe through the medium of an improved holding and attaching` means. y

Figure 2 is a plan viewV of a specific form of strap member employed for attachment to a shoe.

Figure 3 is a plan view of the ring,` member from which the clasp shown in Figure 4 is formed. Y

Figure 4c is a perspective View of a specific form of spring` clasp for detachably securing the ornament shown in Figure 1 to the strap or attachment member.

Referring now to the drawings, I have shown a manner in which my ornament may be applied to and detached from a shoe in a simple and expeditious.manner. 1n this form of the invention, the wing is designated by 6, and the feathers thereof are preferably separated at their ends as clearly shown in Figure 1. IThe shoe B in this instance, is provided with three buckle members at spaced points thereon, and engaging with these buckle members is a strap 8 of cruciform shape. rlhe main leg 9 0f this strap as also the side leg members 10 are perforated at their ends as at 11 adapted for the reception of the usual pivoted tongue ofthe form of buckle 7. The upper end of this strap 9 is also perforated as at 12,

wherein a spring,` clasp mcmbe:` 13 may be riveted thereto, one side of this clasp bcing perforated as at 14 for the reception of the rivets. The clasp 18 is of such a nature as to receive the lower end of the wingv @for securely retaining the same in position 'upon the shoe in a manner clearly shown in Figure 1. This clasp 13 is formed from a l ringl of sheet metal shown more clearly in Figure 3, which ring is folded upon itself Vto produce this clasp as clearly shown in Figure 4.

In view of the latter mentioned construction, it will at once be apparent that the strap member 8. carrying the clasp 13 may be readily attached to and removed from the shoe in a simple and expeditious manner and also that the ornamental wing itself may be removed from the clasp whenever desirable.`

It will be noted from the above description that a novel form of device has been constructed having an attachment member in the form of Va strap member 8 on which is mounted the holding` member 13 of ring` lilre form, bent upon itself at diametric opposite points7 so that the opposite portions of the ring member intermediate the bent portions will cooperate to secure the ornament in removable connection with the strap member so that the same may be readily applied to the shoe or ankle portion of a wearer. The holding member is constructed so that it will cooperate with the ornament to add to th-e ornamental eli'ect thereof as clearly indicatedin Figures 2 and a, said member may be colored or decorated in any suitable manner for enhancing the decorative effect thereof in cooperation with the ornament.

While I have herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made attachment member7 Seid ring` member being` folded over on 2L diameter to receive and detachably hold an ornament therein. 10
