Description

Nov. 19, 1946. s. MARS ANCHOR WATCH STRAP Filed June 22, 1944 INVENTOR. 5010172012 Mara Patented Nov. 19, 1946 W UNITED STATE ZAllA it ANCHOR WATCH STRAP Solomon Mars, New York, N. Y. Application June 22, 1944, Serial No. 541,621
. 2 Claims.
1 This invention relates to new and useful improvements in an anchor watch-strap.
More specifically, the invention proposes a novel construction of an anchor watch-strap characterized by the fact that it is adapted to be engaged with the spring bars of a conventional wrist watch. It is also proposed that one end of the strap be adapted to be engaged with the belt about a mans waist in a manner to permit the Watch to be in or out of the trousers from the belt.
Still further, the invention proposes providing one end of a strap-like member with anchor-like projections n the sides thereof for engaging the bottom lugs which support the bottom spring bar to retain the strap-like member in position. The strap-like member is laced by starting with the end having the anchor-like projections at the bottom of the Watch and lacing its free end past the bottom spring bar and then upwards along the back of the watch and past the top spring bar to the front thereof to securely position the wrist watch upon one end portion of said strap-like member.
A further object proposes providing the free end of the strap-like member (the top end) with vertical slits through which ones belt is adapted to be passed to position this free end upon the belt with the watch depending therefrom.
Still another object of the invention proposes a novel means for reenforcing the anchor-like projections and adjacent bottom portion of the strap-like member to fixedly retain its engaged position with the bottom spring bar to prevent accidental disengagement therefrom.
It is a further object of this invention to construct an anchor watch-strap as briefly described, which is simple and durable and may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is 'an elevational view of a portion of a person illustrating an anchor watch-strap constructed in accordance with this invention supporting a watch from the wearers waist belt.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevational view of the anchor watch-strap in position upon the watch.
Fig. 3 is a partial end elevational view looking in the direction of the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a rear elevational view of the watch having one end of the anchor watch-strap connected with one of th spring bars.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the anchor watch-strap per se.
Fig. 6 is a view similarto Fig. 5 but illustrating a modification of the invention. j
Fig. 7 is an enlarged partial longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 1-1 of Fig. 6.
The anchor watch-strap, according to this invention, is adapted to be used on a conventional wrist watch It provided with spring bars: l I upon diametrically opposite sides thereof.
The anchor Watch-strap, includes a strap-dike member if! having pointed anchor-like projections 13 formed on the sides of the bottom of one of its ends for engaging the bottom lugs M which support the bottom spring bar H. The free end of the strap-like member l2 after having its anchor-like projections is engaged behind. the lugs It is laced by starting with the end having the projections located at the back of the watch. The opposite end of the strap-like member I2 is laced over and around to the front of the bottom spring bar H. The strap-like member i2 is bent around the bottom spring bar II to extend upwards along the back of the watch it. The free end of the strap-like member 12 is then laced up and around the front of the top spring bar H to securely mount the watch It] in position upon one end of the strap-like member 12.
Means is provided for attaching the top end 1 of the strap-like member 12 with an article of ones clothing. It is preferred that this attaching means be in the form of spaced vertical extended slits l5 formed in the free end of the watch strap i2 through which the end of ones.
belt [6 may be engaged for mounting the straplike member I12 in position upon the belt it. The
watch It) will then depend from the belt it and may be engaged into the watch pocket ll of the pair of trousers I8 which are being supported by the belt [6. i
In the modification of the invention disclosed in Figs. 6 and '7 means is provided for reenforcing the end of the strap-like member l2 which is pro vided with the anchor-like projections l3.
This reenforcement means is characterized by a sheet metal piece 2i! which is inserted into the end of the strap-like member l2. A slit 2| is extended inwardly from the end of the straplike member l2 forming a front layer and a back layer. The piece of sheet metal 29 is inserted into this slit between the layers and will fit integrally therein its anchor-like projections fitting into the corresponding anchor-like projection 13.
A means is provided for securing the layers of the strap-like member I2 and the piece of sheet metal 20 together as an integral unit. This means the lugs '14 which support the bottom sp'ring'bar II.
In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that previously shown and like reference numerals identify like parts in each of the several views.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications com ing within the scope of the invention as'defined in the appended'claiins. I
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. An anchor watch-strap, comprising a straplike member having anchor-like projections on the sides of the bottom of one of its ends for engaging the bottom lugs which support the bottom one of the spring bars of a watch when said strap-like member is laced by starting with said end at the back of the watch and continuing over and around the front of said bottom bar and up the back of said watch whereby said member may then be laced under and. up the front of the top bar of said watch, and means for attaching the top end of said member with an artide of ones clothing.
2. An anchor watch-strap having astrap-like member formed with anchor-like projections on the sides of its bottom end portion, said bottom end portion and said projections being slitted forming front and back layers, and a sheet metal piece mounted betweenand secured to said layers and having anchor-like projections disposed within said first-named anchor-like projections integrally therewith.
