Description

Dec. 6, 1927.
s. BOCHONOK CUFF LIfiK Filed March 23, 1927 Patented Dec. 6, 1927.
UNITED STATES STEFAN BOCHONOK, 0F PITTSBURGH. PENNSYLVANIA.
CUFF LINK.
' Application filed March 23, 1927. Serial 1%. 177,659.
' This invention relates to improvements in cuff links, the general object of the inventionbeingto make the shank of the link of rubber or the like so that it will stretch and thus enable the cuff of a shirt to be pulled over the hand of the wearer when putting on-the shirt or in taking it off, and the improved link will also act to hold the cover well up on the forearm of the user so that it will be out of the wayand the cover will be held in this of a sleeve holder.
A still further object of the invention is to provideenlarged ends for the shank which.
are covered with metal to give the linkan attractive appearance and to facilitate'the placing of the device in the buttonholes of a cuff or thelike. i
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fullydescribed, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cuif link constructed 1n accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a side view thereof.
Figure 3 is a section on'line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure at is ure 2.
Figure 5 is a side view of the rubber part of the device. Figure .6 is a a section on line 4-4 of Figface view of one of the in me? disks of the device, with a split therein for enabling it to be passed over the shank. Figure 7 is a view of the disk without the split.
the cuff pulled up over the forearm of the user and the shank of the link stretched to hold the cuff in this position.
As shown in these views, theimproved cufl' link is composedof a s ool-like member A 7 whichis formed of rub er or'the like and comprises the shank 1 and the heads 2, and
position without the use Figure 8 is a view showing the improved the metal caps 3 for covering the outer faces of the heads and the metal disks 4 for covering the inner faces of the heads. The flange of each cap member is bent over the edges of the disk 4, said disk being of cup shape so'that each head of the rubbermember A is completely covered by metal, but the shank 1 is exposed. The'disks 4 may be split, as at 5, so that they can be passed over the shank when putting them on the rubber member or each disk may be formed without the a, split, as shown at 4' in Figure 7 and in this case the heads of the rubber member would be molded after the disks were placed on the shank. After the disks are put in'place,
the caps are placed in position and their flanges aresuitably connected with the disks.
.Thus it will be seen that the shank or piece which connects the two heads of the link together will stretch so that the cufl can pass over the hand of the wearer when he puts the shirt on or takes it ofl. The improved cufl' link will also act to take the place of sleeve holders, for as the cuff is pulled 'up the forearm, the shank will stretch and thus cause the cufi to grip the forearm so that it will not slip back over facilitate the passage of the heads through, the buttonholes.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within'the scope of the appended claim.
'VVhat I claim is A cufl link comprising a member formed thereof, a metallic covering for said heads of rubber or similar material and comprising .a shank having a flat head at either end having its edges rebent to form a circular flange, and a radially split disk adapted to be received between the flange and the rubber head. v
Intestimony whereof I aflix my signature.
