DETACHABLE curr. *i
Speciiication of Letters Iatent. Patented Sept. 20 i921.
Application led January 9, 1920. Serial No. 350,286.
My invention relatesvto improvements inv detachable cuffs, and has for its object the provision of a simple and efficient construcv which,
tion of this character whereby the cuff will be nicely held in place, and the fact'that it is detachable, largelyl if not entirely, concealed. Other objects will appear hereinafter. The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter de scribed and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in Figure 1 is a view of the end of `a shirt sleeve provided with a cuff embodying the invention,
Fig. 2 is an internal view of the cuff and sleeve opened'and iiattened out,
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the cuff detached, and
Fig. 4 is a section taken Fig. 2. A
The preferred form of construction, as illustrated in the drawings', comprises a detachable cuff consisting of the outer and inner portions 5 and 6 foldable on the line 7 to constitute a double or turn over cuff, the portions 5 and 6 being provided with the usual cufl:l button holes 8 arranged to register when the cuff is so folded, and adapted to receive the ordinary cuff button 9 in the usual manner. Arranged at the inner coron une 4 4 of ners of the inner side portionof the cuff,
thus formed, are two substantially triangular flaps 10 stitched to the cuff along the edges 11, but free therefrom along the edges 12,V thus forming substantially triangular pockets open on their inner edges and each pocket is provided with a button hole 13, as shown. A securing flap 14 is also secured to the inner central portion of the inner side of the cuff, beingstitched there-to along the edge'15, but otherwise free, said-Hap being provlded with a button hole 16, as shown. The sleeve of the shirt is provided with the usual cuff band 17, arranged and adapted to have its outer corners or ends fit into the pockets formed by the iiaps 10 and its central portion fitted under the flap 14, as shown in Fig. 2. The cuff band is provided with button holes at its central portion and at its ends, adapted to register with the button holes 13 and 16 Vin the pockets 10 and the flap 14 of the cuff, when in position on the band, and ordinary collar buttons 18 are passed through these registering button holes,'thus securing the cu" in position on the sleeve of the shirt. In this way the cuff and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire. to secure by Let-- ters Patent is:
1. In combination, a shirt sleeve provided with a cuff band, said cuff band being provvided at its ends with buttonholes; a cuff having substantially triangular pockets at its inner corners adapted to fit over the outer corners of the cuff band, saidpockets being provided with buttonholes adapted to register with the buttonholes in the ends of the cuff band; and buttons detachably securing the cuff band in said pockets, substantially as described.
2. In combination, a shirt sleeve provided l withy a cuff band, said cuff. band being provided at itsends with button holes and with a button hole situated substantially cenbutton holes in the ends of the cuff band;` a
' adapted to register With the 'central button hole of said cuff band; and buttons detachably securing the cuff band in said pockets f and to said flap, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof IV have signei name to this specification in the presence of 10 the subscribing Witness. gf
FRANK VINCENT BEACH.
