C. C. COOPER.
SHIRT.
APPLICATION man JUNE 4. 1917.

entrain snares amen when COLIN CiAll/[PBELL COOPER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SHIRT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, COLIN CAMPBELL Ooornn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in the county of New York and State 01 New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shirts, of which the following is a specification.
The principal objects of the present invention are, first, to provide shirts which present the attractive and desirable appearance of attached cuffs and which possess all the well known advantages of detachable ends, and second, to provide a neat, attractive and easily manipulated structure or arrangement of parts for detachably connecting Wrist bands and cuffs in such a way that the detachable feature is concealed.
Other objects will appear from the fol lowing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, and in which Figure l, is a perspective view of a cufl" showing a portion of the sleeve.
Fig. 2, is a face view of the outside oi: the cuff showing its flap in dotted lines.
- Fig. 3, is-a similar View showing a modification with the cuff turned back to expose the outside of the wrist band.
Fig. 4, is a similar view with the cuil' slipped out of the pocket on the wrist band.
Fig. 5, is a perspective view showing the cuff about to enterthe pocket, and
v Fig. 6, is a sectional view. 7
The wrist band 1 is provided externally with a pocket a, closed at the edge 2 and ends 3 of the band and open along its other or inner edge 41-. The cuff 5, is longer than the band 1, and is provided at its inner edge with a flap, shorterthan the cuff, and adapted to be turned down to enter and extend the length of the pocket a. The end parts 6 of the flap, and of the wall I) of the pocket and of the cufl 5, are provided with alin'ed stud-or buttonholes. desired, may be provided at one edge of the cufi.
In use the cuii' 5, is turned down (toward the left in Fig. 5) onto the flap 6 and the latter is slipped into the pocket at, and the Specification of Letters Patent.
7, is a tab that, if

parts are secured in this position by studs 8, passed through the described button-holes. Ordinary sleeve buttons or links are passed through the button-holes 9, and the tab '7, if present, is buttoned over onto one of the studs 8. An inspection of Fig. 1, shows that the joint between the cufl' and sleeve is entirely inconspicuous not only in the center portion but also at the edges, and if visible upon close inspection gives the attractive effect or finish of a turned back cuff. The inside of the cuff presents an attractive appearance and looks not unlike an attached cuff.
I claim:
1. In a shirt the combination of a wrist band provided externally with a pocket closed at the outside edge and at the ends of the band and open along its inner edge, a cufi longer than and overlying andconcealing the band and provided at its inner edge with a turned in flap shorter than the cufi and adapted to enter the pocket to give the effect of a turned back cuff. the flap and inner wall of the pocket and the cufi" being provided with alined stud holes, substantially as described.
2. In a shirt the combination of a wrist.
band provided externally with a pocket closed at the outside edge of the band and open along its inner edge, a cut? outside ct and concealing the band and provided at its inner edge with :1 turned in flap adapted to enter the pocket and give the effect of a turned back cufi. the flap and the inner wall of the pocket and the cuff being provided with alined stud holes, substantially as described.
3. In a shirt the combination of a wrist band provided externally with pocket closed at the outside edge and at the ends of the band and open along its inner edge, a cud outside of the band and provided at its inner edge with a turned in flap adapted to enter the pocket and with a lateral tab overlying the pocket, the flap and the inner wall of the pocket and the cufi? being provided with alined stud holes. substantially as described.
COLIN CAMPBELL COOPER.
