Description

L. IOCCA.
UNDERGARMENT. APPLICATION man FEB-18. x913.
Patented Oct. 5, 1915.
AT HII'EY 5 INVENTOR Lola's l occaw.
LOUIS IOCCA, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
UNDERGARMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 5, 1915.
Application filed February 18, 1913. Serial N 0. 749,245.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS 1000A, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Undergarments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to undergarments for children and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide an undergarment consisting of a waist and drawers made from a single piece of material and provided with a reinforced belt having a row of buttons thereon to permit the attachment of the trousers and to thus dispense with the use of suspenders or shoulder straps.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide a simple undergarment for children in which the waist and drawers are connected by a doubled and folded integral belt for attachment of the buttons for supporting the trousers.
These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a childs undergarment made in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same partially broken away; Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line of the belt and showing the manner of folding the ma-.
terials to form an integral reinforced belt, before the button is attached; Fig. 4 is a similar view after the materials have been connected by the seams and the button has been attached to the reinforced belt.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the waist portion of the undergarment which is preferably formed without sleeves and having the arm scyes 2 reinforced by two lines of stitches 3. The shoulder portions 4 of the waist are integral with the back portion thereof and are connected by the stitches 5. The waist is preferably connected together in the back by a seam 6, while the front portion of the garment is open from the collar to the waist and is provlded with buttons 7 and button holes 8 therefor. The belt is formed by doubling the material of the waist underneath at the po nt 9 forming a reinforced belt, the materlal being extended up to form the reinforce 10 and then extended downward, as shown at 11, to form the drawers 12. At the belt-line three rows of stitches 13 secure the upper edge of the belt to the drawers, while the lower edge 14 is unattached to the drawers and is provided with a single seam 15 to connect the two layers together. The trousers buttons 16 are firmly connected to inforced belt 17 From the foregoing, it will be obvious that the garment may be manufactured at low cost, is simple in construction and entirely does away with the use of suspenders or other shoulder straps, since the trousers may be directly connected to the buttons 16 and said buttons are supported upon a re inforced bolt 17.
A combined undergarment made in accordance with my invention will not gape open at the waist line and will permit the connection of the trousers directly to a reinforced belt and do away entirely with the very objectionable suspenders or shoulder straps.
I claim:
An integral waist and drawers for childrens wear comprising a waist having an inwardly folded portion at the waist line, said folded portion being secured at its upper edge to the waist by a plurality of lines of stitches and the dependent portion of the inwardly folded portion being secured together by a line of stitches and unattached to the drawers, said folded portion forming a double belt integral with the garment, and a row of buttons connected centrally to said belt.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LOUIS IOCOA.
Witnesses JAMES SANTORA, VINonNzo VOLPE.
