IMPROVEMENT IN SAFETY ATTACHMENTS EOR POCKET-BOOKS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Fatent and making part of the same.

To all whom e't may concern.-

Be it known that I, JEFFERSON BROWN, Jr., of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety Attachments for Pocket Books or other Money-Receptacles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the act/ompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in a device to prevent a pocket-book or other money-receptacle from being snatched from the hand, and also obviating the necess'ity of laying itdown while using the hand, thereby insuring safety against loss by theft or carelessness without preventing the use of the hand.

In order to enable others skilled in the .art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is aperspective view from the front of a pocketbook with my device attached thereto;

A represents a pocket-book or other money-receptacle, to which is secured a bracelet, B, by means of a spring, g. This spring is covered by any suitable material and fastened to the back of the pocket-book.

The bracelet B is provided with a 'slot,ls, and button t for fastening around the wrist.

A ring, E, is also attached to the pocketbook by means of a band, x, in such a manner that when the bracelet is put around thewrist and the ring upon the forefinger the pocket-book will occupy the palm of the hand, and the fingers and thumb can be used without detaching the pocket-book.

I do not .confin'e myself to the particular device above described, as it may be varied in numerous ways, all, however, involving the same principle, namely, the securing of a pocket-book or other money-receptacle to one of the fingers or to the wrist, or to both conjointly. I

I will here mention ,a few of the ways in which this same object may be accomplished, but I do not want to be understood to say that these are the only methods. A number of variations would easily suggest themselves to almost anybody.

It can be attached to an} bracelet by making the lower end of the part g in theform of a loop or equivlent device. The part g may be elastic or non-elastic, as'desired.

A band of elastic or other material may encircle the hand below the thumb and hold the pocket-book with or without the bracelet. It may be made adjustable by means of loops. l An elastic band may-be attached to any pocket-book by buttons, and be adjustable to any bracelet by means or a loop.

It can be secured to a glove by means of projecting pieces of suitable material, or a frame, which are secured to the money-receptacle and which can be at tached to the glove by sewing or otherwise. f Having thus fully described my invention,

\Vhat-l claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is-- v A pocket-book or money-receptacle, provided with a ring, and bracelet, (either or both,) and so arranged that it'may be carried in' the palm of the hand, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
