RANDOLPH L. MOSELEY, OF CONCORD, NEXV HAMPSHIRE.
ADJUSTABLE CUFF-=HOLDER.'
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 306,417, dated October 14, 1884.
Application filed July 9, 1884. (No model.) 7
To all whom it may concern.-
'Be it known that I, RANDOLPH L. Mosnnny, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, State ofNew Hampshire, have invented a new and useful Improvement in an. Adjustable Shirt-Sleeve and Cuff Holder, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in a shirt-sleeve and cuff holder, and is composed of an elastic strap with a spring-clasp, hook, and button, by means of which the cuff is not only fastened to the shirt, but is firmly held in position, and can readily be adjusted to any desired distance from thehand when upon the wearers arm, and at the Sametime readily and quickly attached and detached from its position upon the arm. I attain this by the following device.
Figure l of the drawings represents the adjustable shirt-sleeve and cuff holder detached.
Fig. 2 represents the device attached to the shirt-sleeve and cuff.
To one end of an elastic strap, A, is attached a spring clasp or clutch, D, which is designed to grasp the cloth of the shirt-sleeve. At the other end of the elastic band A is a hook, B, curved back and in upon itself, leaving space sufficient to admit the passage of the sleeveband 0 a, but close enough to press upon the cloth. At a convenient point near the junction of the hook B and the elastic strap A is fixed a but-ton, 0, upon which the cuff is but toned.
The manner of-using the device is as follows: The cuff b b is buttoned to the strap A by passing the button 0 through the buttonholes of the cuff. The cuff is then drawn over the hand, bringing the hook B to a position to grasp the band of the shirt-sleeve. The strap A is then attached to the shirt-sleeve by means of the spring clasp or clutch D. The hook B, pressing upon the sides of the sleeve-band, causes the strap and cuff to remain in position, while the relative position of the cuff to the hand can be readily adjusted, and the shirt sleeve shortened or lengthened, as desired, by raising or lowering the spring clasp or clutch in its grasp upon the shirt-sleeve.
This device allows the cuff to be readily and quickly detached or attached from and to the k shirt-sleeve by allowing the cuff buttoned to t the strap to pass over the hand and lowering or fastening the spring-clasp to the shirt-sleeve, as desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I desire to claiman d to secure by Letters Patent is A n adjustable cuffholder consisting of the combination, with an elastic band, of a springclasp secured to one end of the band, a hook secured at the other end of the band, and a buttonsecured upon the band adjacent to said hook, substantially as set forth.
RANDOLPH L. MOSELEY.
