INVENTOH:
PATENT trice.
CHARLES F. FERRY, OF AUGUSTA, MAINE.
CUFFmHOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 389,973, dated September 25, 1888.
Application fiied July l2, lSFS.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that l, CHARLES F. PERRY, of Augusta, inthe county of Kennebec and State of Maine, have invented a new and Improved Cuff-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
rlhe object of my invention is to provide a cheap and practical cuft'holdendesigned more particularly for ladies use, the main outer member ot' this device being adapted to be passed through a loop fastened upon the interior of the sleeve.
The invention consists ol' the special construction of the holder, all as hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming` a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the gures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the application of my new and improved cuffliolder. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view ofthe holder, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective View ot' the loop to be attached to the sleeve.
The cuff-holder A is made of a single strip ofsheet metal bent upon itself to form the inner member, a, outer member, b, intermediate loop, c, and the two outer loops, cl e. The memherb projects beyond the member a, and it is curved near the loop e to form the spring f, which, together with the adjacent surface of the intermediate loop, c, forms a clasp to retain the loop B, as illustrated in Fig. 1. The
loop B is made of wire or any suitable lnaterial, and is secured to theinterior of the sleeve C in proper position so that the member b may be passed through it, and when so passed through will hold the cuff D at proper position.
The holder is applied to the cuff by passing the inner member, a, through the button-holes ofthe cuft", the holes being held with more or less spring action at the fold of the intermediate loop, c. The member b, having been passed through the loop B until the latter passes springf into the loop e, will retain the cuff firmly iu place without inconvenience and without materially soiling the cuff.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The holder formed with the inner member, a, outer member, b,and intermediate fold, c, in combination with the loop B, secured to the sleeve ofthe garment, substantially as described.
2. The culi-holder formed with the inner member, a, outer member, b, and intermediate fold, c, forming the loops d e, the outer member, I), being bent to form t-he spring f, in combination with loop B, secured to the sleeve of the garment, substantially as described.
CHARLES F. PERRY.
