HAIR-TRANSFRMER.
Application filed May 9, 1914i.
T0 all Lv/710m it may concern Be it known that l, Josnr d. Tnncnnn, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and resident of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Hair-Transformers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to hair dressing, more especially false hair, and the main object thereof is to provide a transformer for womens hair, whereby the entire head-dress may be placed in position or removed therefrom, as a unit.
A further object is to provide a frame for said transformer which is invisible and light, and which is adapted for different styles of hair dressing.
A. further object is to provide plaits or switches of hair having the female members of detachable securing members thereon in positions corresponding to the male members on said frame, said securing devices being arranged at different points on the frame whereby said plaits or switches may be used at correspondingly different positions, for different effects.
A further object is to form the frame of flexible strips which readily adapt themselves to the conformation of the head, and also to provide eXtensible, elastic, means for holding the frame on the head; and, with these and other objects in mind, my invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and claimed.
My invention is fully set forth in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which the same reference characters are used to indicate the same parts in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a front view of my invention arranged upon the head of a woman, with the hair in position on onehalf of the frame only; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the frame; Fig. 3 is a view of a hair plait or switch, several of which are employed, of different form, if desired; Fig. l is a section taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2; Fig. 3 is a view of the frame with hair plaits connected therewith, previously to dressing said hair in one style; and Fig. 6 is a similar view but with the plaits arranged for dressing in another style.
ln the drawings forming a part of this application lf have shown a frame compris Specification of Letters Efatent.

ing two main, curved, members t and (z2, of iieXible material, and preferably covered with fabric, which members are joined by brace members a3, a4 and a5, any number of which may be employed, and in any desired arrangement or position, and the ends of the members a and c2 are secured together, as are the ends of the members a3, a4 and a to said members a and a2, and l also provide an elastic, extensible, member a6 connected, at the ends thereof, with the corresponding ends of the frame, as clearly shown in Fig. 2.
Arranged on the members of the frame are the male members of detachable securing means, such as glove fasteners, in pairs, as Z)-, @-0, cZ-CZ, eme, f-f, L-Ja, and supplemental fastener members b2, cl2, e2 and h2, and l prefer to stitch or otherwise secure a hair fringe or bang t' to the frame member a2. Each of the hair plaits is provided with a fabric or other strip b4 along the upper edge thereof, over which the hair is plaited, this strip carrying, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, at the ends thereof, the female members of the fastening means, referred to as 223-253 in said Fig. 3, the length of said strip being such as to be stretched when the complemental fastener members are united, and thus holding plait end Hat against the frame member, but l do not limit myself to any specific positions of the fastener members nor the specific fastening means, but the form shown answers for this description.
In practice, the plaits are connected with the frame in desired positions according to the style of hair dressing, two forms being shown in the initial plait arrangement in Figs. 5 and 6, Yafter which the plaits are overlaid or otherwise dressed so as to conceal the frame, the said plaits having been waved, if desired, previous to such dressing over the frame, and supplemental objects of hair may also be employed, such as switches, puEs, etc., etc. lt will thus be seen that l may arrange plaits of hair in different initial positions on my frame, as at b2, cZ-CZ2, e-e2, #-1752, --al2, t-ci etc., for different styles of hair dressing, and, when the dressing is complete, the entire transformation is removable as a unit from the head of a wearer, thus obviating the nece.- sity for frequent dressing and, if desired, the wearers own hair may also be employed to produce different effects.
My transformer is simple, light, sumplace Without the use of pins,
formed of two main flexible strips joined together at the ends, members joining said main members, and a plurality of hair plaits, said frame carrying a plurality of fastening devices arranged in pairs thereon, and each of said plaits carrying a pair of complemental fasteners adapted for engagement with the fasteners on said frame.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subseribin Witnesses.
JOSEF JOHA N TEUGLER.
