HEADDRESS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 18, 1921 Application filed April 22, 1920. Serial No. 375,363.
part of this specification.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a form of headdress of the turban type, which is adapted to be quickly ad justed about the head in the form of a turban and securely held in position by tying the two ribbons carried thereby in a bow knot.
Another object of the invention is to provide a headdressof the character mentioned, which is adapted to fit the head of any wearer. 7
Another object of the invention is to provide a headdress as described, which is designed to conform in every part thereof to the shape of the head, thereby, when adjusted in position, concealing the hair of the wearer, thus providing a device which is most admirably adapted for use by patients in dentists chairs, or by nurses in hospitals, or the like, for sanitary reasons.
The accompanying drawings clearl disclose my invention, and the different gures of the drawings may be briefly desci'ibed as follows:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the de vice as placed upon the head of the wearer, preliminary to adjusting the same about the hea Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the first adjustment of the turban, after being placed on the head; 7
Fig. 3 is a similar view, showing the sec- 0nd adjustment of the head gear;
Fig. 4 is a similar view, showing the adjusted position of the headdress;
Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 4, but showing the back and side of the headdress; .Fig. 6 is a fragmentary view of the headdress, illustrating the curved cross-sectional,
'. or bowed, form thereof, and
7 is also a fragmentary view of the headdress.
Referring now in detail to the drawings: The body portion of the headdress, or turban, is formed of two substantially rectangular pieces of suitable material, said pieces being designated by the reference numerals 1, 1. Said pieces of the body portion are connected along their two adjacent ends by a seam 2, said seam extending from the point a to the point b,'as clearly shown in Fig. 1.
At one end of the seam 2, said pieces 1, 1 are shirred, as shown at 4:, thus conforming said pieces 1, 1 to the curvature of the head of the wearer. The lower ends of the dependin portions 3, 3,-that is to say, the free en s thereof opposite the seam 2,-are gathered transversely, as shown at 5, 5, thereby emphasizing the curvature of said portions 3, 3, and
conforming said portions 3, 3 to the curvature of the head of the wearer.
The said gathered ends 5, 5 are gathered ties 6, 6.
In adjusting the headdress, or turban, to the head of the wearer, the headdress is disposed on the head in the manner shown in Fig. 1; that is to say, with the seam' 2 at the top of the head, and with the shirred portion 4 in the center of the forehead, at the top thereof, the portions 3, 3 thus depending upon each side of the headof the wearer, as shown in Fig. 1. Thereupon, -.;the portions 3, 3 are crossed in reverse directions at the base of the back of the head of the wearer, as shown in Fig. 2; thereafter, said portions 3, 3 are drawn upward toward the front, along the sides of the head of the wearer, as shown in Fig. 3, completely concealing the hair of the wearer; and finally, the ribbons 6, 6 are tied in a bow 7 {at the top of the forehead, centrally thereof, as shown in Fig. 4.
What Iclaim to be new is: I
A head dress composed of two strips of flexible non-elastic material, stitched to- 'to the width of and attached to ribbon gether upon a line inclined to the marginal edges, said stitching including a gatherin of the seam a distance from one end thereo and the remote end of said strips gathered to a, tie. r
- In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature. v
