CAP FASTENER.

This invention relates to apparel and particularly to head coverings.

The general ob ect of the invention is to provide a fastener for securing a nurses cap or the like to the head of the wearer, with the result that the use of pins and similar fastening means of like character can be dispensed with. i

A further object of the invention is to provide a resilient fastener of the character as above set forth that is adapted to be detachably disposed in the front fold of a nurses cap, so that the fastener will function to secure the cap to the wearers head but will in no way detract from the appearance of the cap.

Another object of the invention is to provide a resilient fastener for securing a nurses cap to the head of a wearer, that is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and efficient in operation and service.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accon'ipanying drawings wierein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

letter A indicates a nurses cap which is of the usual construction and includes a front strip which'is folded so to be disposed in super posed relation with respect to the body of the cap as shown.

The fastener wnich formsthe subject matter of the present invention is adapted to be disposed between the front strip ant the body so as'to' function to hold the cap upon the wearers head but will be completely covered by the front strip as clearly shown in Figure 1.

In the form of the invention as shown in Figures 1, 2, 3 and 9 it will be noted. the-t1 have provided a tubular member 1 formed from resilient material and curved upon itself to follow the curvature of a persons head. Mounted for slidable movement in the tubular member and extending from the opposite ends thereof are adjusting pieces 2 which have their free ends curved upon themselves as at 3 so as to limit the movement of the pieces in the tubular member as will be apparent. The adjusting pieces are rounded in cross section to follow the cross sectional shape of the tubular member and due to the fact that they are slidably mounted in the tubular member they can. be adjusted as desired so as to fit various sizes of caps.

In Figure i I have illustrated a slightly modified form of the construction as shown in Figures 1, 2, E3 and 9 and in this form it will be noted that the adjusting pieces which for distinction are indicated by the reference numeral 4c, are flat, and are received for slidable movement in a covering 5 of rectangular shape in crosssection. The function of the adjusting pieces a is similar to the adjusting pieces 2.

In Figure 5 I have illustrated another modified form of the invention which as shown includes a body 6 formed from resilient material and is flat as shown. The ends of the body 6 are curved upon themselves to provide protecting means 7.

In Figure 7 I have illustrated a further modified form of the invention, which is provided with a body 8 formed of resilient wire and has secured in any Well known manner to its ends knobs 9 so that these ends will in no way effect the wearer or cause damage to the cap.

From the above description and disclosure of the drawings it will be obvious that I have provided a fastener which may be easily and conveniently arran ed with respect to a nurses cap and the like for securing the same upon the head of a wearer and dueto the constructionof the forms as shown in Figures 1 to 3 inclusive as well as the resilient qualities of the form as shown in the remaining figures, the fastener ma be adjusted so that it can be associated wit i'various sizes of caps as well as to cause the cap to snugly engage I the headof the wearer. The fastener may be' made small, mediumand large sizes.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel-features of m invention will be readily apparent.
