UNITED STATES l OVEN ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 10, 1914.
Application filed January 29, 1914. Serial No. 815,327.
To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrrr L. J AGLOWITZ, a citizen .of the United States, residing at Blue Island, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oven Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved oven attachment, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device which can be connected with the door of the oven so that when the door is open, the dishes placed in the oven will be moved outwardly and thus can be. conveniently handled.
Another object of the invention is to so construct the attachment that it may be readily connected with any oven door.
Another object of the invention is to so construct the device that the shelves may be removed when desired.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide the removable supporting wall with a roller which is mounted in an improved manner.
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein- Figure 1 is an elevation of a stove with the oven door open and provided with the improved attachment; Fig. 2 is an elevation of the removable supporting wall; Fig. 3 is an edge view of the wall shown in Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the attachment with the oven door shown in section; Fig. 5
is a section taken along the line 5-5 of Fig.
8; Fig. 6 shows viewsof the brackets'which' connect the removable shelves with the oven door and removable wall; Fig. 7 is an elevation of the roller and its attaching brackets; Fig. 8 is a section taken along the line 8-8 of Fig. 41 with the shelf removed.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 10 indicates a stove which is provided with the usual fire box 11 and ash. pit 12. The oven door 13 is hinged to the stove by means of the hinges 14 and is provided with a suitable catch 15 for holding the oven door in a closed position.
The removable wall 16 is provided with a flange 17 which is secured to the oven door by means of bolts 18 and has its lower outer corner which This roller 20 which is shown in Fig. 7 is provided with a stem or axle 21 which fits into bearings 22 secured to the wall 16 by suitable bolts or rivets which pass through the openings 23 formed in the bearings.
The shelves 2 1 are formed as shown in Fig. 4L and are provided with perforated cars 25 which extend from the converging edges of the shelves and are engaged upon the brackets 26 and 27 which are secured to the walls 16 and oven door 13.
Then this device is in use, it is attached to the oven door as shown in the drawings with the wall 16 extending into the oven and provided with cut-out portions 19 in supported by means of the roller 20 which rests upon the bottom of the oven. The wall is secured to the door and the shelves are carried by the brackets which are secured to the wall and door and form bracing means for the wall 16 as well as supporting means for pans placed upon the shelves. When the oven door is opened, the wall 16 and shelves 24 will be drawn outwardly to the position shown in Fig. placed upon the shelves. After the dishes are in place, the oven door can be closed and the wall 16 and shelves will then be moved into the oven by the closing of the door. As soon as it is desired to remove the pans or to examine the contents of the pans, the oven door can be opened and the attachment will then move outwardly sothatth PATENT OFFICE.
a supporting roller 20 is positioned. A
1 and the dishes can then be pans may be removed without it being necessary to extend the arm into the oven. This prevents any danger of the arm being burnt by touching the sides or top or bottom of the oven. It is of course obvious that as many sets of brackets 26 and 27 may be provided as desired so that the shelves 24 may be positioned at any height desired.
l/Vhat is claimed is: 3
In a device of the character deseribed, a stove provided with an oven, at door for said oven hinged to said stove, an inner wall having one edge portion bent to form a flange secured to the hinge end of said door, supporting hooks carried by said wall and door, a supporting roller positioned in a cut-out formed in the lower free end portion Which said hooks pass to support said 3;)
of said well, bearings carried by said Wall shelves.
upon opposite sides of the cut-out formed In testimony whereof I aflix my signatherein and rotatably mounting the axle of ture in presence of two Witnesses.
said roller, whereby the roller may rest upon JOSEPH L JAGLOWITZ the bottom of said oven and support the wall in spaced relation to the bottom of said Witnesses:
oven, and shelves having their edge portions J OHN JAGLOWITZ, provided with perforated ears through i JOSEPH F. GERDES.
