SHIRT WAIST. APPLICATION FILED J NE 11, 1912.
11 044. 1 I r Patented Nov. 19, 1912.
WITNESSE I INVENTOR ALBERT GREENEIBAUM, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
SHIRT-WAIST.
1&44381.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 19, 1912.
Application filed June 11, 1912. Serial No. 702,997.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, ALBERT GREENEBAUM, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Shirt-Waist, of which the following drawing-string heretofore employed in drawis a specification.
My invention consists of an improved adjusting device. for the waistband of boys shirt-waists, whereby the drawing strings now in general use are dispensed with.
It further consists of other novel features of construction, all as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
The annexed drawings and the following description set forth in detail one mechanical form embodying the invention, such detail construction being but one of various mechanical forms in which the'principle of the invention may be used.
In said annexed drawings :Figure 1 I represents a perspective view of, a boys shirt-waist provided with my improvement. Fig. Q'represents a View of as much of such shirt-waist as will illustrate one adjustment of the' device. Fig. 3 represents a similar view illustrating another adjustment. I
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the "figures.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates a shirt-waist of the usual or of any desired or required construction and provided with the usual waistband, 2, fastened bv a button, 3;and buttonhole, 4 On each side and about above the' hips, the 'waistband is provided with a button, 5, and at each side of each of said buttons and at a suitable distance from the same is secured a loop, 6, adaptedto be buttoned over the button. The waist may be worn with the waist band loose, or one loop may be buttoned over one of the buttons. If it is desired to further tighten the waist-band, aloop may be buttoned over the button on the other side, or three loops may be buttoned over the but- Goptles or this patent may be obtained for the cents each, by
tons, or four loops may be buttoned, when the waist-band is tightened to its full extent. Each loop forms a fold in the Waist-band, so that considerable adjustment of thegirth of the waist-band is attained by my device.
The present device dispenses with the ing, the waist-band of a boys shirt-waist around the waist, and which string has been liable to be pulled out and lost, to be'broken or to disappear in the casing, at the bottom of the-waist, while it is being laundered.
.Five difl'erent girth-adjustments may be had with my device, having two buttons and four loops, and more adjustments may be had by increasing the number of buttons and pans of loops.
Other modes of applying the principle of my invent-ion may be employed for the mode herein explained. Change may therefore be made as regards the mechanism thus disclosed, provided the principles of construction set forth respectively, in the following claim are employed,
Having thus describe'd my invention what I claim as new and-desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is
In a shirt waist, a waistband, a single button secured' uponeach side of the same and a pair of loopsifor each button, and situated on opposite sides thereof, each loop being permanently secured to the waistband at its end farthest from its respective button, with its free end extending toward the-said but; ton, and normally held'at a suitable predetermined distance therefrom, said loops being adapted to be removably connected with its respective button, said construction providing that the told in the waist, for each loop, will be ate distance from and on each side of the button.
ALBERT Witnessesr WM. SECHER, C. D. MoVAY.
GREENEBAUM.
