A further object of my invention is to provide a dress, which may be readily donned; which will have a double front, either side of which front may be lapped over the other, and which will have the appearance of a neatly fitting combined waist and skirt.

With the above and other objects in view,

-as will more fully hereinafter appear, the

present invent-ion consists in certain novel details of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

I attain the above-outlined objects by making use of two sets of belts, one, an inside two-part belt having one end attached to the back of the dress and adapted to encircle the waist of the wearer and to have its opposite end affixed to some convenient point on, the opposite front panel. The outer loose panel is confined by an ordinary form of belt.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a preferred embodimentof my-invention on the wearer, portions of the front panel being broken away, to show the inner belt; Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the dress thrown open to show the inner belt; Fig. 3 is a reduced view similar to Fig. 1, showing the outer belt retaining inposition the overlapping panels, and Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view through the dress at the belts.

The opposite free end of each of the inner belts carries a button or other clamping member 7, adapted to engage a buttonhole or other clamp-receiving"member 8 on the oppositely-disposed overlapping panels 9 and 10.

As shown in Fig. 1, the inner elastic belt 4. encircles the wearers waist and is fastened to the member 8 carried by the right-hand panel 9. As this inner belt 4 is elastic, it ml], of course, draw in the right-hand side of the dress, to conform to the contour of the wearer. In this illustration, the inner belt (5 lies idle. The loose outer panel 10 is then drawn across the inner panel 9 and is fastened in position by means of the outer belt 11, by engaging one of a plurality of clamping means 12 disposed on the outside of said outer belt, as shown more particularly in Fig. 2. Should it be desired to reverse this arrangement of panels, as, for in stance, to present a clean front, the belt 6 is brought around the front of the waist and attached to the panel 10, and in this case, the loose panel 9 overlaps the panel 10 and is fastened by means of'the outside belt 11. Preferably, this outside belt is of some re-' silient material, so that the outer panel will be held positioned across the front, irrespective of the waist measureinent of the particular wearer.

Havi g thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. An open front dress, comprising a back and a pair of overlapped front panels, an inner belt having one end fastened to the inside and to the back of said dress at the waist line, the opposite end of said belt adapted to engage with the outer edge of one of said panels, so that said belt, attached panel and back of the dress to the point of will encircle the waist, and an outside belt adapted to hold said outer panel in overlapped position over said lapped panel.
